To be clear does that mean Toyota is offering rental cars to those 98K owners while the remedy is pending?

That's what happens when you quadruple interest rates inside 18 months.

They do. I’ve done this twice when fuel pump recall was a thing on my Tacoma and 4Runner.
For the Tacoma my loaner was 5 months.
4runner my loaner was 3 months.
Used the shit out of those loaner cars.

I wish that was the case but just a few posts ago we had discussed this, we won't get the use of rentals unless we go to the top of Toyota Canada and if that even worked, we would get a Corolla. We have about 10% of the affected VIN's up here in the great white north!

I think it would make a difference if we had lemon laws and better protection for owners. Toyota Canada can just ignore us and hope we go away.

All we get up here is "There is nothing we can do for you" but we will be happy to sell you another vehicle!

Local Ford dealer has a field/lot near my home they use to store excess inventory. There are now about 25 F150, a dozen MachE’s, a handful of Bronco Sports, and some HD trucks sitting there, none have moved, and it grows a bit every week. That’s big money in retail sales sitting there, and the actual dealership is stuffed. Millions of dollars they have to offload.

Everyone’s overflowing by me. Ford is packed with just about everything. Chevy is the same. Subaru’s lot has had the same cars on it since March.

local dodge dealer is filled to both their overflow lots. My Toyota dealer is moving inventory quickly, including tundras, but the Tacoma's are sitting.

Yep, I counted like 25 Tundras at the dealer I got my truck from a few weeks ago. Screeching halt seems like it’s in the air.

I wanted a faster vehicle so I also bought a Chevy SS... because 4 door sedans with big V8’s are hilarious.
Everything is wildly overpriced for what you get, and interest rates are too damn high.

Buyers who can pay cash are offended by prices and buyers who need to finance are not able to afford the payments.

Give it a few more months and the dealers might even need to learn how to make car deals again.

About 6 weeks ago I bought a new Civic and paid OTD over $1,800 less than the MSRP price. The car was built one state away 6 month prior so it wasn't moving. Pearl white Hatchback Sport from a small dealership.

I live down the road from an RV sales place, smaller, not like an RV world thing. From covid until about a little more than a year ago, their lot was empty and I saw people pulling trailers away from sales or in to service constantly. Now the lot is stuffed, and you rarely see trailers coming down the road. I don't know if theres an industry outside of hand sanitizer that flipped harder.

It is my understanding that if they have a loaner available, then yes, you will be put in a loaner until a remedy is available.

This applies only to the United States.

For the Gen 2ers that keep asking why change what isn't broke. Answer: market share.

The market share from 2012 to 2021 for Tundra gradually slid to an all time low of 6.5% in 2021. It was as high as 15.3% in April 24.

Selling trucks that appeal just to folks that buy a new truck every 20 years is a very tough business model.

Each time I get on the road, I see more Gen 3 Tundras. They were all over the place in Steamboat Springs, CO last weekend. My local dealerships have very little inventory of them. People are buying them, despite the naysayers.

BTW, I'm a previous owner of a 2008 and 2015 Tundras, and I like my 2023 better than both so far in 16K miles. Ask me again at around 50K miles and I might have a different story.

Creating a better more fuel efficient V8 would have been the answer. Copying Ford again didn’t work well. At least not yet, this will turn around in a couple years.

Tough with CAFE. And everybody wants 500 HP. Tough to meet both with a non turbo.

I am amazed how many 3.0 diesels GMs I see locally. Which for all the diesel goodness is still a complex EGR with two turbos.

I'm hoping this trend is true for me.................I found out about the issue 9 months after I bought a 2023 SR5 Tundra. Fingers crossed the issue was resolved by Toyota before mine was built.

Hoping no engine recalls pop up for my VIN on my Toyota App. We shall see.

Some of 1500 V8s are around 400 HP and FT/LBs. But hard to trick the fuel economy tests with any big V8s. So in the near future we will hit a day there are no V8s in 1500 class.

HDs don't the have to meet fuel economy standards so you can huge motor to your hearts content. But Toyo does not do HDs

For those that missed it last couple months Tundra has surplanted Ram as the #4 truck in market share behind Ford and GM twins. Not that many years ago Ram was #2 behind F150 for periods.

Ram is in free fall. Those that are not GM or Ford bound are going Toyota.

Interesting. What are your sources saying the reasons are for the Ram "free fall"? Every newer Ram owner I know is very pleased with their trucks.

Price for Rams ans Jeeps. The new 25's with Hurricane are budget busters; I did a mid grade 4x4 Laramie with big screen and sport appearance pack; $82k.

I saw today Stellantis has filed suite because their gas tank vendor is holding their minivan production hostage to force a 12.5% price increase. They have also lost a lot of C level, top engineers and lead designer types. Even their chief over software development left.

Looks like rats off a sinking ship to me. If they flop with the EV model rollout they are in deep do do

Sure Toyo saw this as an opening to move some trucks. Heck it may even be an opening to kill off a competitor

So have the failures petered out? Or is no one driving their recalled trucks?

The majority of the internet will now have to find something else to complain about. Over the last year ive seen so many youtube experts talk about these trucks.

There was an engine problem with a proven engine, they recalled it voluntarily. Is it a shit situation for owners that have affected trucks. OF COURSE. Toyota is replacing the entire engine assembly, they are doing the right thing. I am not a toyota fanboy, ive had 3 toyotas, i have a 24 tundra and a 24 4Runner, and have had the older gens of both. They are good cars. Ford has had a IED as a transmission in their 10spd F150's and some of the early F250 transmissions, and never recalled anything. In fact they've been sued multiple times and now years later Ford is doing something about it. GM has had their share of issues plaguing their trucks, almost 1M trucks recalled for tailgates, mechanical, safety etc.

Right now in the current US market, we are plagued by quality issues. Some say we can link these to CAFE/EPA regulations and politics pushing things smaller and harder working under the guise of efficiency, I agree. I also think its corporate greed and everyone has an opinion on others. I will also say that there's a large amount of people who dont take care of their cars. Those folks are unlikely to be on these forums, but there is a number of accounts that come here to troll. Same with youtube and other enthusiast sites.

All of this is the reason why older trucks like the OBS ford diesels, LBZ Duramax silverados and ram 2500s with the 5.9 cummins are skyrocketing in value. Simple, easy to repair, no emissions, no BS.

    holy shit, is that right?

    82 for a Laramie?

if so, Ram has forgotten who their customers are, they were always the cheapest where you could get a nice looking truck with lots of content but for a cheaper price then the others since the quality wasnt quite there.

82 for a Laramie, lol. thats 14K more than my fully loaded 23 Platinum tundra
