Right? That is exactly what they said as well.

You gotta be kidding. Some of us watched that news conference. Trump was asking docs if there was some sort of bloodstream disinfectant to remove covid virus, fair question for someone who isn't a doctor. Now it is now akin to "telling people to drink bleach."

The media really did a number on some people.

To the rest of your posting, covid was THE opportunity to purchase shale oil stocks. It took about three years, but we made a small fortune.

Seeing videos online about Tacoma transmissions blowing and needing to be replaced, problem is there isn't any transmissions in stock to do the repair and buy backs are starting....

Might be overblown because well, YouTube. But I wouldn't buy a new toyota right now if you paid me.

I think y'all are giving politicians too much credit. They do nothing but feed at the trough and have no real thoughts of their own. They regurgitate what the lobbyists tell them. Money buys influence. Manufacturers are not at the mercy of politicians. If they didn't want less reliable EVs that are cheaper to produce in newer factories with increased robotics, it wouldn't happen.

This is 100% true. This is my current line of work after moving from an auto OEM.

The oilfield and refineries are trying to electrify everything. On top of data and AI. Everyone is rushing in all at once.

Sorry being a bit facetious. He was saying 250k had been recalled(more than manufactured)
Assume we can disregard the rest of his claims too!

Toyota should just warranty motor failures due to the bearing issues to 200k and move on. If it happens fix it, i wouldnt want my motor torn apart just incase the bearings might be defective. IF they were fine, some other issue could happen due to the exploratory surgery

He is in the life is too short mode. Having a vehicle problem is a PITA for sure and not really 100% avoidable with man made machines. Perspective wise it is not even close to the worst thing in life. If it is worst thing that has happened to you feel very blessed.

Did you guys join CA energy imbalance market? The company I work for has been apart of it for about 6 years now and they are making a fortune off of California’s stupidity. the downside is the units in our fleet are getting cycled on and off more than they ever have. The maintenance has increased significantly. Then you add in the data centers that are getting put in all over phx and the tsmc semiconductor plant that was put in, in north phx is a 40 billion dollar project and at full load they are requesting up to 1100 megawatts!

We also are getting 10 new GE LMs100’s I believe is what they said. But it’s not gonna be enough. They are closing down the old coal plant I used to work at by the end of the year so the new units just offset that. There is no net megawatt gain.
On that 115 degree day they overloaded a transformer in one of our subs and tripped it off so then they were calling us out to go get it and another transformer in service before the next days peak.

GA Power built 2 new nuclear reactors that just went online. Datacenters and crypto mining ate all the extra capacity. Now they are retrofitting fossil fuel capacity to bring it back online. The same environmental damaging plants that were to be mothballed by the nukes that every customer paid several hundred bucks a year for years to fund.

No way we are charging a few hundred million cars every night with the capacity we have.

Got to love all the people making these decisions. Not many if any can tell you how electricity is actually produced. Like how it physically happens. lol

Ok let’s get back on topic

Doing a little research on Toyota Motor Manufacturing Tennessee in Jackson, TN they absolutely appear to do machining of the blocks after they are cast. I noted a number of machinist job postings online for this plant and then if you watch this video at the 6:30 mark, you can see the blocks being machined post casting.

Here is a video on Alabama assembly plant. Not saying they don't machine the blocks there, but doesn't seem to be shown on the video and I can't find any job posting for machinist at this plant. I did not they are looking for a new 2nd shift 6PM-345AM Manufacturing Team Lead though....

Why do you think the bearings themselves are defective?
That would mean Toyota is lying to us when claiming that machining debris is the cause.

I fully replaced the transmission in my Dodge Ram twice in less than 100K Miles. It was starting to slip again at 130K. Friends with F-150's have a litany of transmission and engine issues. My father's last 3 Chevrolet Tahoe's spend more time in the shop than on the road after 80K miles so now he considers them worn out before they hit that number.

If you want to contribute to a "throw it away society" buy a UAW or Mexico made vehicle from one of the big 3. If you want something that lasts buy a Toyota

    2 reasons for me.

    1. Still having failures of '24 models on Facebook. We see them almost daily except now the Fanboi audience there want to suppress any mention of engine failures
    2. The fact that they think Hybrid failures are not an issue b/c we can pull over safely is arrogance. My 8 1/2' by 22 cargo trailer isn't going to be pulled to safety with a 40hp electric motor

As a hybrid owner I'm pissed. They didn't recall it, but the bad news destroyed its resale anyway. Its like they did it on purpose to trap future sales and current owners. Resale value of my truck, based on carvana has dropped 5k in the past 3 weeks.

You could ask why not just take the loss and you're right. I just can't decide between an LZO Max Trailering Package or an F-150 Powerboost. My problem is I bought my truck b/c it fit my needs better both of those trucks.
