@War Machine - What about Ceramic coating? I was following the thread “Convince me on Ceramic”, I cant justify the money for it at the moment, other mods on top of list, I will still take your suggestions on cleaning but for Blaaack it looks worth it.

It’s absolutely worth it, especially if you aren’t someone who wants to wash and maintain their paint all the time like I do. I’ve actually bought everything I need to apply it, but just haven’t gotten around to it. I’m starting to think I never will.
Carpro CQuartz is what I’ve bought, and it’s very easy to apply. Works very well, and lasts for years. I’ve put it on a couple of panels of my old truck, and it definitely lives up to the hype.

You can apply it yourself, or have someone do it. It’s probably over a grand to have it done by someone else though.

Wow! But I did notice that bucket o mud was more of a slurry of dirty water...like does it bead off the same way with like thick mud or how about clay?

Mud or clay will still stick, but will rinse off a lot easier. That slurry wouldn’t have run off my truck the way it did that one, and it’s always got a ton of sealant on it.
Basically, it’s a much more effective protectant, and lasts up to five years vs a few months like the stuff most of us use. It’s really for people who either have the money to have it done, or the time and skill to do it themselves. It’s not something most people would be interested in. Hell, very few people will go through the trouble I, or any of the other detailing enthusiasts on here do. There’s a half a dozen or so of us on here that probably go overboard with it.

I’d say that unless you’re going to fork over the money for this, just get it clean, and use one or two of the sealants I recommended. You can get by with just maintenance washes and reapplying sealant every three to six months. Some of us just really enjoy the hobby. For me, it’s my anti-anxiety / depression therapy. More than anything, it’s just my way of keeping my mind off of things. My own version of “mindfulness”.

Yes, although taking 4 hrs to clean the truck on Sunday was long, it was therapeutic in a way...just taking the time and being out, had the dog with me, got to BS with the neighbor about the truck...just relaxing, first weekend in a while I didn't have to work.

I usually wake up several hours before anyone else in the house. (If I actually sleep at all.) It’s too quiet, so I get out there and put in work doing this. Otherwise I go nuts.

Hahaha, if I ever get to leave Cali I'll be sure to live next-door to you and leave my Tundra in the driveway for when you're done with your truck
