Why do some people lift the front of their truck and drop the rear? I’m presently in Florida right now and there are quite a few trucks running around with this suspension modification. I’m from Canada and haven’t seen this in my area. I’m not knocking it but just don’t understand it. I can’t imagine how you could haul anything. I guess unloading would be easy. I haven’t seen a Tundra modified like this.

Here is one at the local hardware store. This one is mild to most that I have seen.

Illegal in most states now if it's the Carolina/southern squat.

When I was a kid, imports were hot. Now, high school kids think the squat is cool.

Some things get better, like getting rid of Jnco jeans. Some things get worse.

IIRC, you are further south, but that is a Polk County thing. You should see them come out of the woods (Polk County) when they have the annual Monster Jam in Tampa. It's definitely a RN gathering.

When I was younger in San Diego, we had a lot of stadium truck racing (Mickey Thompson) stuff, Baja racing stuff. A lot of the trucks were nose high. It seemed like that was better for short track racing and i think a lot of people tried to copy the look. What you see now is absolutely not Baja race copycat. Now called Carolina squat, on low profile tires poking way out, looks dumb, in my opinion. Absolutely zero functionality.

There's one squatted Tahoe in my area. I think that might be the only one I've ever seen in person.

I’d only seen this on the internet until our recent roadtrip. They started around Houston and saw them all the way to FL. One broke down on I-10 around MS or AL with a couple buddies trying to help.

Absolutely pointless. Thankfully va has a law against them now but it only came after there were a lot of accidents from the driver not being able to see what was in front of them. Since the law came about you still see them sometimes but they definitely don’t have va plates

This ^^^ was exactly my thought as well. Used to be the race trucks and prerunners were usually a touch higher in the front, so of course everyone wanted that look. (sometimes the functionality, but usually just the look)

    upload_2024-4-9_13-41-50.jpgupload_2024-4-9_13-42-14.jpg upload_2024-4-9_13-42-37.jpg

Boom... "California Tilt" was born. Everybody was building a "Prerunner" even though most of them weren't pre-running anything. Not gonna' lie, I kinda' like that look within reason. Like barely higher in the front.

I used to love sliding my truck sideways... rain, freshly paved with sand on it, woo hooo!! I feel like they slide a little more predictably with the back end lower.

Then like most "trends" everybody thinks "I need to go more extreme than everybody else" and "If a little is good, then more is better"

Boom... California Tilt morphed into Bro Dozers, then it spread to the Carolina Squat and it just turned ridiculous.

Welcome to Florida, as I sit in PA looking forward to going home LOL.

I see it a lot in Central and Northern Florida. It is as so many have said. It is also illegal in most, if not all states. Florida tends to let things slide until they have a reason, so my area is covered down with these. Its a trend and one that needs to fade away.

I seem to remember the origin of the squatted trucks were actually from southern florida/louisiana swamp areas where they raised the front of the truck to keep the engine out of swamps when forging. Not sure how true this is but yeah what a horrible trend its turned into.

Smells like BS to me. Could just as easily lift both ends of a vehicle to stay above low water crossings. Having grown up in Louisiana, no one drives a truck into a swamp.

It's okay to knock it. It's pointless and only a moron would do that to their vehicle. Especially a pickup.
