I wanted a crazy reliable truck, plus the best gas V8 on the market. It also doesn't hurt that Tundras hold their resale value better than almost any other pickup on the market. But the biggest factor that convinced me was that out of all the Fords, Dodges, and GMC's that he's had for work trucks, my dad's favorite was his 2007 Tundra.
Plus, they aren't made in Mexico :oldglory:

Needed more room for 2 car seats after my daughter blessed us with identical twin grandsons, I am Grandpa daycare, I take both boys to and from pre school and other errands. My 06 Taco access cab just didnt have the room I wanted nor did the Taco double cab. Still wanted a Toyota for the reliability, the Tundra was the only choice for me.

Just happen to work for Toyota and I have a growing family, pretty much tried everything in the Toyota line-up. Couldn't get any better than the Tundra, sure as hell ain't gonna drive the swagger wagon. Tundra has the room of a sequoia but only 2\3 of the price, and obviously you can haul all kinds of crap with it.

Since I don't have enough free time to repair the other brands, Toyota is a no brainer. Got the Tundra because the Tacoma was just too small for everyday life. I'm sure I'll miss it this year for hunting season though.

My siblings and I had a whole bunch of Toyota vehicles over the years. None gave us any problems. So I knew I wanted Toyota. I originally was shopping for Tacoma when I test drove a Tundra . . . and as they say, the rest is history.

Tacoma was overly built and I stopped wheeling a couple years ago... coupled with my 3rd member exploding and another wheel bearing going bad I decided to fix and trade it in for something a bit more mild... the dealership I buy all my work trucks from had a 12 Rock Warrior certified with only 23k miles on it so I worked out a deal... pretty happy although I miss the nimbleness of the Tacoma :)

I am happy to say that as of this Wednesday I will be a proud owner of a 2004 Tundra. I had been looking for some time and was trying to decide between a Tacoma or Tundra. I never test drove a Tacoma but after driving the current one I will own it was not necessary. It has low miles, was one owner and all maintenance done at the Toyota dealership it was purchased at. Owners traded it in on a New Tundra, if that doesn't say something for these trucks nothing does. I fell in Love as soon as I seen it. Super clean and runs amazing. Dealer is changing timing belt, water pump, front brakes and rotors. Changed the oil and detailing it tomorrow for me to pick up Wednesday. I cannot wait to drive this truck everyday. It was a no brainer for me with Toyota for reliability and resale value. Many that I looked at and priced all go for big dollars no matter how many miles they have on them.

It's been a while since I've been online. It is with deep sorrow that I say good bye to my 06 Tundra. It was totaled out last Friday night. I'm looking to go into a 2013 Taco until I need something larger.

Well I commented earlier in this thread, but I can elaborate a little.

I had two Dodge 2500 diesels. 2004.5 and a 2002 HO. the 3rd gen was a good truck until around 43k miles and the dealership got ahold of it. It was sold at 75k miles. I could no longer afford to maintain it or get disappointed from cancelled vacations due to mechanical failure or dropping 7500.00 in repairs and taking the vacation money to pay for said repairs.

My 02 was better with about 180k on it when I sold it. It was paid for cash, and in 42 months of ownership, it averaged 619.00 per month to maintain. That was unnexceptable and rediculous to spend that kind of money per month and doing all maintenance myself.

I was so sick and tired of draining my accounts, working non-stop on these trucks just to get to the next day.

I had more problems with the Cummins motor than anything else. Everyone said the motor would last forever and the Dodge would fall apart around the motor. I had the exact opposite experience. As a moderator on a large diesel site, I was not the only one.

Careful what you all wish for in getting a Cummins V8 in the Tundra....

Reliability and they are the sickest looking trucks out there. Especially with a lift. Resale value added that extra bonus

Agreed. It's kind of funny how you can lift a Tundra 3 inches and fit 35's, whereas most of the Big 3 diesels have a 6 in lift to accommodate em.

Thinking rightnow, but soon to come!!!
Purchased our tundra in 05 right off the lot, needed the 4 doors and cab space. Been running strong for the past 12 years. We even have a Camry in the yard as well now.
But I must admit it's time to start dressing her up. Once I get back to the homestead I'll post some before pictures.
