Mostly because I hated my Tacoma.

I like it. It is and has been great.

I do think they're hyped a bit tho. Lol.

My opinion: In 1/2 ton market inundated with grocery getters, the Tundra is the last true TRUCK remaining.

What do I know though. Only been driving trucks for 45 years

I bought my 2017 Tundra TRD Pro...because of my 2017 4Runner TRD Pro.

I really liked the T4R but it was lacking...in power. It was the slowest vehicle I have ever owned. That includes a 1984 Dodge Colt (Mitsubishi Mirage) non-turbo when I was in high school.

I loved the simplicity of the T4R and even drove it 12k miles in the 12 months of ownership. Loved the color the most (Cement) so much I wanted another Cement colored car...which lead me to the truck I just got last week. I got an awesome trade in on my T4R (over sticker) so I basically drove the car for free for 12 months.

I’ve had the truck for a few days and I can tell this is was a much better vehicle for me as a daily. I won’t be hauling or towing with it since I already have a Ford F-350 Crewcab Long bed Diesel to do that.

    Time to start modding!

needing to replace a 17 year old Tahoe. was a good truck but once I started comparing new trucks. chevy was gonna be about $10K more and not as dependable. New neighbor had a 2014 DC and really liked it. Once I drove a new one I was in love and haven't regretted it yet.

Have a 2002 Tundra which I LOVE and have kept. Plus I had a mid life crisis and wanted a super cool truck so I bought the PRO which I treat like a special sports car. Honesty, I treat it better than my 1956 Mercury. (may be something wrong with me)
The reliability of my 2002 definitely gave me the confidence to "overspend" on the PRO.

Because I was so pleased and happy with my first Tundra, a 2000 SR5 TRD. Never let me down or stranded. I am hoping I'll be as fortunate with the new 2018. It sure is BIGGER!

Reliability, towing, looks, features, good POWER, and coming from an SUV, I like the huge amount of cargo area I get with a truck bed

Looks and I was tired of recalls and warranty repairs on my previous trucks (F-150s). I would have bought one earlier but waited until TSS-P and LED headlights became available because I got used to those features. So far the Tundra has proven itself with no issues over the first 6K miles. I love it!

Just got a brand-new 2018 Platinum 4x4 this week. Traded in a 2012 RAM 1500 Limited 4x4. Loved the RAM, but it was like a bad friend that I kept making excuses for...A/C issues, A-pillar leak, mileage. I got the Tundra for the following reasons.

    1. It is a big truck, with a big Cabin, and it will still fit in my garage.
    2. Real engine, with a real transmission. Because Toyota sells so many high efficiency sedans, they don't have to dumbed down their truck with B.S. technological advances to meet CAFE guidlines that put extra strain on the transmission and engine revolutions when you're trying to actually use it as a truck.
    3. Toyota reliability.
    4. Ground clearance. Like getting a new Ford, GMC or RAM that has a 2 inch lift and leveling kit.
    5. While it doesn't quite ride, handle, or accelerate like that 2012 Hemi (and it doesn't, but it is really close). It is vastly superior to the 2013 and up hemi with the 8 speed, the ecoboost with the 10 speed, the 5.3L gm with their ridiculous #of gears, etc. I have driven them all. Anyone who says different is simply a fanboy of those other brands most likely because they own one.

Thank you Toyota for still building a real truck with a real engine and transmission.

Longer list than the wife needs to know about....
I loved my Tacoma and had wanted a Tundra for years and I finally needed something larger to tow my toy hauler. I tried hard not to be brand loyal so I test drove the Nissan, Chevy, and Ford. Ultimately reliability and resale won over fancy features and finish.

Firstly for the reliability and built quality reputation.

I traded my 2002 Tacoma in on the Tundra. 16 years with zero issues; never spent a penny on repairs - just oil changes, tires, brake pads and wiper blades.

Tundra also has the best interior of all the other options I have looked at. Roomy and best rear seats for the family.

    Of course, the supercharger. :)

Reliability was my #1. Had a 1998 4Runner limited that I sold last December so almost 20 years old with 257k miles. Normal maintenance and that was it. I loved it. Having typed that, with my new 17 CM, I don't know how I drive the 4Runner with 175hp for that long. Love my Tundra!!

Received Consumer Reports 2018 annual Auto Issue yesterday. The Tundra has fine reviews. If I had to make the decision today on which pickup to buy again, it would be a TUNDRA!!!!

I had a Tacoma for 15 years. I love Toyotas. Finally moved up to a little more luxury, room, and power.
I’ve had it about 3 weeks and I’m loving it.

    Fun thread :)

Bought mine because loved my Tacoma but needed a bigger truck. Tacoma was the first vehicle I haven't lost my ass on at resale, that thing traded in amazingly! Everyone and their mother has an F150 and I wanted to be different. Loving this truck even though she's quite thirsty but I knew that going in with buying a big ol V8. Crewmax has so much room its ridiculous and I love the roll down back window!
