I always figured F150s were more popular because companies bought them as fleet vehicles:notsure:

I was going to say, my Tundra gets the best mpg I have ever gotten from any full size truck I have ever had....keep it below 2k rpms and you can average 17 mpg.

My dad's 2019 ram averages 20 mpg but I got my driving habits from my mom not him so it makes sense
Edit: I wouldn't trust the Dodge if I was driving it

I grew up in a Ford Family. I saw the issues first hand. My first vehicle was an 85 T-Bird. I've never owned another Ford since and never will. My wife feels the same.

The CM has always done poorly with IIHS concerning passenger offset collision. Hasn't hurt CM sales up to now.

This is exactly the reason why the F150 is the biggest selling vehicle. Fleet volume sales and company sales. Who cares about popularity over reliability.

The Tacoma is mine. Went from a Focus ST to a Tacoma. I like it, but its cramped inside - something I didn't realize when buying a truck. I still think the Tacoma is great, and definatly better than the GM/Chev combo. But I want something bigger. I went from a young mans car to a young mans truck. Should have went to the big boy truck.

My family was die hard Chevrolet. Never even thought about looking elsewhere. Then came my pop's 2002 and my 2003 2500HD. I went gas and he went duramax. Two of the worst vehicles we ever owned. Brake lines rusted out, fuel lines rusted, the shift cable on mine rusted and it was stuck in drive, heater blower motors and resistors, and if I changed one running light then I changed 20 of them. I bought a Taco in 2008, and dad bought the tundra. Both were bulletproof. The taco went 250k, and my buddy is still running it. Dad went 120k on the tundra. I bought a new taco in 2015 before the turd get happened and I just added a 2018 tundra last summer. For us there is no better truck on the road. I will say that I am scared of the next generation of tundras and what they will do to the drivelines. God knows they blew it with the taco.

Live and learn... unless you are rolling in it you probably should get your money's worth out of the Tacoma, then make the jump into the larger Tundra.

Man not going over 2k how is that even possible..lol. I like to feel the power of the 5.7 to much so my foot gets into it a little more lol. I have always had a truck so mpg is what it is, I have never driven a vehicle that gets 20mpg or better.

Tundra not as popular I think has to do with the loyalty to the big 3 and the fact Toyota really doesn't push the truck. They made a big splash when then announced it in 07 and then just let it die. While these trucks are more reliable then others they are not perfect and the other trucks post better numbers in Towing, payload, mpg...people look at numbers in a book and make decisions just the way it is and they like bragging rights. Plus no 3/4 ton truck, man I would love a 3/4 ton Tundra.

I used to get it from my buddies who own the big 3 and I would defend the Yota but then I got the cam tower leak and my motor had to be torn down, not the ford, ram or Chevy's my buddies have....so where to I go form there? I can sell it for more? To be outdated and reliable is one thing, to be outdated and have issues is inexcusable. But the reason Toyota wont change or update much is they have proven they are no different the other brands when they roll out new tech or updates...look at the TSS issues and 3rd gen Tacoma.

No they’re not dumb. People believe media advertising, and at the years end big 10K plus discounts are offered, and you know how people love a deal. Now with Tundra, you may hear $1500 rebate. Peanuts. No deal.

What's her argument? if its because the truck isn't american enough for her I think I proved that point wrong very well, if its reliability then there's no question there either.

How do you go through 3 trucks in 5 years and still have the nerve to not only just deny how garbage the product must be but actually RECOMMEND the same POS to someone else?!? Blows my mind

Tundra's must be fairly popular. San Antonio Plant at capacity and Toyota sells just about every one that comes of the made in Texas assembly line.........Toyota never planned on building a million trucks per year. Too many Big 3 fan boys have to get a truck like grandpappy.........and drink Schlitz.....

Truth. I had been thinking about a new truck for a couple years (was driving a 2004 Z71 since I bought it that year) and was fairly sure I wanted a Tundra. Then I saw the new Trail Boss and it looked nice. In doing research, I visited a number of Chevy forums and it was a horror show. So many issues. That sealed the deal for me and I never thought about it again.

People love misery. They love figuring out how to pay for engines and transmissions. How do I know you might ask? I had an engine and transmission replaced on my last truck a Ford with only 70k miles (covered by warranty thank God). Now I am trying to figure out how to pay for my mods instead of replacing major parts.

The Tundras don't sell well becauae Toyota has barely changed them since 2007. It's a dated brand that's no longer generating excitement. It's not the best looking(subjective). Worst in class fuel economy. There is no reason Toyota can't build a full size truck that gets 20mpg and still has great power. Others have done it.

Toyota raised the bar in 07. ..everybody else spent the next 2 gens catching up. Problem is that was 4 generations ago for all the other brands and only only 1 gen for Toyota. Comparison shop the big 3 vs Toyota and its numbers in most catagories are subpar nowadays.

    Great truck, trusty, reliable....YES!

In need of Total Modernisation/Redisgn...also YES!

Traded my 2016 GMC SLT for a 2014 Platnium. GMC got great mpgs, and I liked alot about it...I could also tell that long term, it was gonna fall apart (8 weeks in shop for warranty work in first 45k miles). I needed a reliable truck...but honestly, the Tundra is a noticable step backwards as far as modern bells and whistles. Trying to get it up to date with 2018 LEDs and stereo/HU upgrades for now.

Depends on where your at, in SC the Tundra dominates, at least where I was. Ford owners are "fanboys" doesn't matter how many things go wrong, they continue to buy.
