Got my Wildpeaks mounted today. Ended up going with the 275-70's. Happy with them.

Total mounted and balanced with the replacement coupon was $1505. More than I wanted, but my other choice the Conti's would not be in stock till Christmas, and the WP's were next day. They are a bit nosier than stock and you can feel the change in acceleration, but the steering is a bit sharper, and you can feel the much stiffer sidewall. The WP's have almost 1K more weight capacity than the Michelins.

Took the time to check brake pads. Look OK but will need to change in the next 10K or so. Hawk pads are my usual go to.

Before - Stock Michelins 275-65's with 60K miles.

After 275-70's A bit taller, and fill the wheel wells but not overdone. A fair compromise I think.

I had them on my 4Runner. They were fantastic. I will be replacing my tires with them next.

Wednesday I had my Wildpeak 275/70R 18's rotated. I have 50K on them. I only get them rotated every 10K. They are still going strong.

The technician at Discount Tire said I can easily go 60-65K with them.

I have a long road trip planned for next summer, so I might replace them for that trip. I just don't want to be in the middle of nowhere with a tire having greater than 60K on them.

I bought my 2017 used about a year and a half ago with 17.5k on the odometer, the previous owner had put on 275/70r18 Wildpeaks at some point. It has 42k on it now and lots of life left in the tires, I'd guess easily another 30k. I'm no AT tire connoisseur but I barely notice any noise coming from them. Definitely considering them again after I get my lift and move up to 35s.

Falken are great tires. So far everyone I know that has them are happy with them. Just balance and rotate them regularly. I had them on my mother Honda pilot and she felt safe during snow storms. I personally went with YOKOHAMA GEO XAT. I am more then happy with them. Toyo AT3 Is another tire you could look into too.

did you ever consider the 285/65s? It seems like most go for 275/70s or 295/70s.

Thanks! Excited to be here. I'll post when I get it! I live in north Idaho and bought it from a Texas dealer. My buddy has a tundra down there and went and got the truck inspected/test drove it for me. He and the pre purchase inspection said it checked out.. so I bought it over the phone and had it shipped. Should be coming in the next couple of weeks! Such a weird way to buy a truck... but these times are weird.

Sure, I considered that size, but ultimately I wanted to add height so I went with the 275’s first. But after a while the 275’s started to look to small so went to the 295’s. Now I’m eyeballing true 35’s but with low inventory and the stupid prices I’ll be waiting a while for those.

I do not recommend them. Constant balance issues. Balanced even with road balancing machines, still there, especially when cold or sitting. Mine are the 10-ply versions. I know others have complained about these and having the same issues. Also, a few months back I ran over something at low speed resulting in a flat. From the time I left the intersection and drive 150’ to the side of the road, the entire inside of the tire was black dust with at least 3 handful of tire dust. I have had a lot of flat tires in my life, and none of those tires disintegrated like that.

I have these on two vehicles with zero issues. About 20k miles collectively so far. Got them on my uncles recommendation. He’s had 3 sets on his tundra. He drives all over the county for work and said they were the best he’s used.

Now on the flip side, I recommend these to a buddy for his 2019. He had one out of round. No shop could balance it. He ended up getting his money back and getting Toyos. So I guess what I’m getting at is these have some major inconsistencies. Probably due to the fact that they are produced in separate countries and you don’t really know what you’re gonna get when you purchase.

You might be on to something with the inconsistency. We rotated ours out several times and could never find a good balance. My coworker has them on his F150 and no issues. 265 wide though, and not 275. I'm going to run the Toyo’s next.

Got them on mine and gotta say I like them better then the ridge grapplers. They don’t slide around in the rain like the grapplers did.

The set on my 4Runner and made in the good ole USA, the set on my Tundra are made in Thailand and I’ve heard of some made in China. I messaged Falken about it and they told me they are produced in Turkey, Brazil, Japan, Thailand, USA at a minimum. Seems like logistically it would be hard to maintain QC with all those different factories. At least they have a good warranty.

It's an issue that we have seen across all brands. Sometimes isolating where the issue is occurring and replacing the affect tire(s) solves the issue. I have seen BFG users moving into Cooper and the issue is gone. Or perhaps a Yokohama user going into another brand and all is well. Its a endless battle but at the very least, there are warranties and trial periods in place to allows the consumer to find a suitable resolution if the issue can't be fixed.

I had Wildpeaks on my 5th Gen 4runner and they went strong for 15K then started to have some balancing issues. Nothing compared to what my KO2s were like though.

Can't say enough good things about mine. Almost 2 years 30k miles daily driver and weekend trails. What i've been most impressed with is their snow performance and how quiet they are. Still net 15.5 mpg average too on 295's.

I was likewise very happy with my KO2's.

I went with the Wildpeaks because I thought they would be almost as good as my KO2's, but not as expensive.

But now I see they are more expensive than the KO2's, at least at Discount Tire.

I'm very happy with my Wildpeaks, but I'm just not sure they are better than KO2's.

Yes Wildpeaks have gotten wildly expensive - one of the most expensive now at Americas Tire (Discount Tire)

Maybe because they are one of the most popular tire especially now that Toyota is throwing them on many of their 4X4s

When I replace my Wildpeaks in the fall -they will have over 60K on them by then- I'm pretty sure I'm going with Cooper AT3's.

No way I can afford Wildpeaks now; even though I have been very happy with mine.
