She has so much energy. She will fetch anything, the Frisbee gets her really excited. We have to take her out several times a day!

Sounds like my rescue. Ball is life for him. I have yet to tire him out. Not pushing it in this heat though. Truck said 109 today.

He's full of energy and keeps me on my toes. Also he knows no personal space. First true rescue. He's got a lot of great potential. Just hoping to get him there.

If you figure out how to teach a lab personal space, please share. A few friends have them and I have never met one that wasn't constantly and frantically in my face for the first while after walking in the door. Doesn't matter if I ignore them, push them back, they just have to be on top of you. Really puts me off the breed, which is sad because they are sweet. Then again, my pug wants as much bodily contact as possible when I've been gone for days....

That's awesome, came back nicely too.

Our first could, second couldn't (due to hip dysplasia, we didn't try), I'm hoping our new one can. I love frisbee dogs.

She can eat 2 Costco sized polish sausages off our kitchen island when we aren't watching her....is that a trick?

This is true. However it's the jumping on you and getting in your face or walking on you when sitting or laying on the couch. He's not a cuddler, but wants attention. My others will listen when telling them to back up or sit down. This guy has no chill. Either going 100 mph or sleeping. He is getting better about the jumping.

Yeah, the jumping is no good on a dog that big. I just bump them in the chest with my knee when they jump. It's uncomfortable for them, but won't hurt them, and because they don't see it they don't associate it with the person. They wind up associating it with jumping up on people in general so they never become fearful like a dog that gets slapped with the hand. Learned a lot of what not to do with dogs from idiot parents and neighbors who were always shocked when a dog wouldn't come to them when called.

This is what I do also. That or step on back toes enough to make them move the foot causing them to get back on all fours. He is now responding to just the verbal command of down as well. He's a smart dog. Just no one paid him any training attention. He has picked up a lot in the 2 weeks I've had him. Thankfully he was at least potty trained.

We picked up a new pup in beginning of June (she was 12 weeks at the time).
She is 50% black lab, 25% wire-hair pointer and 25% mastiff. She was only 16lbs when we got her and now (end of July) she is already about 40lbs. What a change in only 2 months!!
The guy we got her from estimated she will be about 60lbs, but I'm guessing more like 75-80. Remarkably, she looks a LOT like our last dog, but completely different breeds (Lab/Mastiff vs Pitt mix)

    Thanks!!

I had no clue that she was going to be another brindle. We looked for a new dog for months during Covid, but it seemed like there were hundreds applying to adopt every dog we cam across. Finally I found a guy up in hte desert (about 2 hrs away) that had a litter of 8 he was selling (only $300). There were no pics... Just a description of the breed mix. When I called, he said that he only had one pup left and it was mine if I wanted to drive up. So I head to his 200 acre ranch and he pulls up with her in the passenger seat of his old truck. There she is, the spitting image of our last dog!!! Must have been fate. Although I do occasionally find myself calling Hershey "Sierra" by accident.

Our puppy is learning to wait and hold her current position before going for her treats. We’ve stepped it up to putting marshmallows on her face while she waits.

Tuckered out from the dog park.

She's doing very well playing with other dogs, big and small, young and old. No aggression, no snarling.

Another rough morning at the dog park.

It's nice to be able to get her out for a full out run and playing with other dogs. She loves it.

    Belly hair is coming back.....slowly.
