yeah got to keep the keys away from him i have to jingle them every once in a while to get his attention.

 

the other day i was cruising down the highway and the back passenger window down and inky stuck his head out and went full dog face in the wind ears and lips flapping!... coolest sight ever!

Female Boxer , 10 weeks, her name is Nova rescued/adopted her last week,

 

inky and his big sister gaisha the neighbors dog... lol twinsies!

 

I got into working with my dog on "Find me" I would run out in the field and hide and wife would say "go find daddy"

Pretty soon we would hide things in the house and say "Find it" then it was outside. Pretty soon we were able to have her smell something and she would locate it.

I was at the park and a LEO asked if she could come to a S and R event. The rest is history

 

I have a brittany. He is 4yrs old.

 

Dang your little guy looks just like ours! We got the runt of the litter. He’s smart as a whip!

He looks like he just won the Time magazine doggo of the year award.

I watched a guy walk down my sidewalk, cross the street, then cross till he hit all 4 corners and than walk down the middle of the street. I let Indy out later...she tracked every step. We also play hide and seek in the house.
Today I told our trainer about her doing this. So our next session is gonna be a step in this direction! Mainly to see if I have what it takes for this!

Dogs track easily. It's what they do. It's what they track is the difference. If a dog smells something while training and he lifts his paw, it's a critter and not what you want them to track.

We would go to funeral homes and get old clothes that they would take off the dead. Put that in a jar and hide it far in the woods. Then bring g your dog. This is after getting them familiar with the scent. Then you bring the dog and a container with talc powder and use that to gauge the wind direction. You want the wind blowing towards you.

Tracking live is matting down the path and having them follow the path. At the end is a treat. Could be a favorite toy or a little something to eat.

The path will get longer. Then you switch scents. Give your dog the scent and have them track it.
In about 6 months of doing this he should be able to smell something, find the path and find the yummy or toy.

Took three years for air and land tracking for my dog.

 

Great looking Mal! We just added a 6 month old BM to our family. Her new big sister is loves her...but still gets annoyed by the little shit. One of our trainers here also does K9 S&R all over the region. One her dogs has the oldest recorded recovery in the State of VA. The state highway department was doing a road re-alignment and they knew anecdotally that there was an old historic family cemetery somewhere along the route. Biene; a three-legged GSD search dog found it and it was later dated to be more than 250 yrs old!
