I just learned the same fate for my pal, Lucy. It’s a tough thing. She’s actually doing ok today so as long as she’s not suffering I’ll wait to put her down.
Sorry about your dog. I’ve owned two beagles in my day.

My wife takes care of the garden for her business, Miss B's, she makes jams, jellies, and salsas. Those old things I got 17 years ago. Their Q Power, where ever that came from I haven't a clue. They were big and that's all that mattered at the time. And yes my neighbors and I don't get along well.

Sorry for your loss. As a pet owner putting down a beloved pet is one of the hardest things to do. It's gut wrenching. The vet who put our cat slick down a month ago summed it up as "the last act of love that you can give your pet." Cherish every moment that you have with them.

She looks happy Sorry for your loss.

It's never easy, I lost one this last year without the chance to say good bye, at least she passed at home with her sisters watching over her.

Just remember guys, we spoil ours to make up for the ones who are not spoiled.

My wife and I rescued our dog from a local Labrador rescue group. She definitely has Lab in her, but she clearly has some other breeds as well. The rescue group gave all sorts of breed guesses as well as did our vet. Well.... the only way to find out for sure is through the DNA testing. So here are the results that we got back:

This was quite a surprise. For as much as she looks like a Lab, I would have expected a higher Lab percentage. At only 1/8th Lab, those Lab genes must be very dominant. I also would have never expected Chow Chow. I do not see that breed at all in her body and fur. The only slight hint of Chow Chow is the slight dark color patches on her tongue. I would have never guessed that she is 1/4 American Staffordshire Terrier either, but after doing some research into that breed, I can definitely see it in her. Apparently, it has become common to breed an American Staffordshire Terrier and a Labrador. They call the result either a Labrastaff or a Staffador. Here are a couple of sites I found on that breed mix:
    https://dogsbarn.com/breeds/staffy-cross-labrador/
    https://wagwalking.com/breed/labrastaff
This breed mix can also explain her fur color. She has some areas that are black and some areas that are brown. Initially, we thought that she was a black Lab, but others called her a chocolate Lab. After looking at the breed sites, it seems that her color is sable:

So, places where her fur is short (like her ears) is brown and places where her hair is long (like her back) are black.

We have had Lacy for about 8 months and she is now 4 1/2 years old. When we got her, she was 75 pounds and incredibly overweight. Now, she is 60 pounds and the vet said that she needs to lose 2 more pounds to be at the perfect weight. My wife and I lucked out with Lacy. She is the perfect dog for us and our household. She is an absolute sweet-heart, very gentle and laid back, very well behaved, easily trainable, and just wants to hang around me and my wife.

Here, I just got home from work and she is ready to go for a walk. She is waiting very patiently while I get ready.

My wife and I went to a restaurant that has a patio and Lacy laid under the table while we ate. She was super chill and didn't fuss or beg. She just loved being outside with her people.

She also gets along with our cat. They always hang out together and many times I will see them looking out the back door.

Lacy is also very respectful when it comes to food. She doesn't beg and will she only eat the food that we give her. She leaves the cat's food alone and I can feed them at the same time:

It's funny... now that we have these two animals, we have found that the dog is so much easier to care for and is so much cleaner than the cat.

    We lucked out with Lacy.
