Movie night and a swim in the pool

 

Earlier this year in Sedona

 

Took the little one to lunch while the other was getting her summer cut. Local place called OSHO is very dog friendly...



She did surprisingly well with the grandkids in town for a few days:

We love OHSO, but haven't taken our dogs there. I usually make friends with other people's dogs though. Did you get some dog biscuits on the way out?

Very nice! Not sure if I would trust my dog to not do something stupid. BTW, that arch is my screen saver.

 

haha I hear ya. My boy is very well trained. It was an awesome week in Sedona with him.

 

I miss her so much. Coco passed away this week after a fast, but catastrophic illness. I'm trying to keep it together, but it's a struggle. Life just seems off center right now.

 

Sorry to hear, Its never easy. I’ve heard it put this way before. “A dog will only be around for a part of your life, but for them you are their whole life.”

What a happy fella. Can't get a dog to smile like that without a lot of love given. Sorry for your loss.

 

I know exactly how you feel. We lost our Boxer unexpectedly on Wednesday to cancer. 7 years of joy and happiness. Her name was Winnie but I called her shadow as she was always next or near me and the wife. I am sorry for your loss, and I know the struggle and grief you are dealing with as I am in it too.

So sorry for you guys who lost your best friends.
We've lost 4 since the wife and I have been married..

Only 4 more days of the inflatable collar or the lick sleeve on the leg..
2 week checkup on Mav's CCL surgery coming up on Tuesday.
He already thinks he is good to go, wanting to jump on the couch and chase birds.
But we have to leash walk him just to go outside and do his business..

Almost kennel time to sleep.
I need to post another pic in the kennel, he uses the inflatable like a pillow.
If I drink another beer I'll probably end up sleeping on the floor with him again...

 

Thanks, everyone. Coco was the center of our world for the last twelve years. The support here has been fantastic and very much appreciated.

 

Many of us love dogs more than most of the people we know.
With the exception of CLOSE family (and not even some of them), I'd rather spend time with anyone's pup...

Coco looks a bit like the roughness of our ridgeback Malloy with the sweetness of our hound dog Moxie.
Both gone too soon much like Coco....

 

Sorry for your loss; there's never enough time given w/them. Thank you for sharing some of your photos of her playing. She was a beautiful dog and clearly enjoyed the time she had w/you...

 

I'm sorry to hear Winnie passed, Yinzer. Cancer sucks ass. This is the hardest part, but pales in comparison to the love they have given us.

 

We think Coco was a Ridgie mix, but she was a Katrina dog so we're not sure. Didn't care enough to do a DNA test. We just called her a Ridgeback pure mix, as she had all the personality of a Ridgie and some of the physical traits - no stripe and slightly smaller though. And you're right about people too...

 

She does appear to have some Ridge in her.

Here's the first photo that I could find real quick of Lex (a ridge mix I had many years ago). He had an incredible and confident demeanor; super stable and loving around everyone and other dogs; and his facial expressions and movements are some of the most engaging I've ever seen on a dog... He was a pretty big pup; the mal he's standing next to isn't small at 75lbs. Like your girl, he did not have a true 'ridge' on his back, but his fur, legs, body and some of his facial characteristics were very consistent w/a Ridgeback.

 

My wife had Ridgie Malloy when I met her.
He was VERY protective of her.
But I became known as the dogwalker since she was to small (or lazy) to walk him.
He let me into his and her pack and he is known to us as the best dog ever.
His ridge would stand straight up from his neck to his tail when he was pissed.



Funny as Maverick has gotten older, his ridge will stand up as well.
Maverick loved him some Moxie, and I don't think he has ever been the same since she passed..



Enough of me and doggy memory lane..
Dogs have been a crucial part of the relationship between my wife and me for 18 years.
They have been a buffer keeping us from getting on each other's nerves.
Although that does happen from time to time dogs or no dogs.....

 

I caved, on the floor it will be for me tonight..
