It was a nice weekend for a dip! She loves the water

 

Awww. The lip/underbite faces are always so damn cute!

 

The wife dropped Maverick off yesterday (Tuesday) at a surgical vet, I'll take off today (Wednesday) and pick him up.
A year and a month after he snapped his rear left CCL, last Tuesday he snapped his rear right CCL.
It was bound to happen.
If he ran at all at night, chasing the ball, he would end up limping then and most of the next day.
By the day after he would be fine.

We took him to a vet who does the surgery on Saturday and they confirmed what the issue was.
At least this vet has a surgeon there that does it.
Many smaller vets, like our main vet, have traveling specialty surgeons that do it.

They told us when we got his first one fixed, chances were pretty good his other one would go.

It's weird not having him here tonight.

Just after the wife, Maverick is literally my best friend..



He's a nervous nelly at the vet, we have to sedate him to take him.
I can't wait to pick him up in the morning...

At least we've already been through the rehab, but he was the only dog then.
It will be a little harder keeping him and Milo separated since Milo is famous for body-checking Mavs in the backyard..

 

Can relate. When one is recovering the other is always like, wtf you mean I can't ruff play with my best friend? Sending the best maverick's way in his recovery.

That really sucks, best wishes for a fast recovery. Ours had that done about 2.5 years ago and we are always concerned she'll tear the other one.

 

I hate that for you and Maverick! My goldie, Jenny, just had her right one done 11 weeks ago. Her left one was done a couple of years ago.

 

Found out my local sports equipment reseller (Plat it Again) has boxes of 100 tennis balls for $20

Just be careful. I've heard dogs can break the rubber insides and choke on them. I use Lacrosse balls now.

 

Yeah, I usually toss them when that happens. I go through several a week...

 

Hope he heals up quickly. Kinda empty without them around.

The absolute last night I sleep on the floor next to Maverick's kennel after his CCL surgery on Tuesday.
I made a bed out of 3 dog beds...



He was a bit too lethargic on Wednesday and Thursday, and would not go out on his own to TT or drink enough water.
They have him on 5 different meds, 3 of them pain meds.
Called the vet today and asked which one and how much I could cut it down.

I think we have it figured out.
He was more alert today and tonight, but he didn't seem to be hurting too badly.

He didn't even seem any different before the surgery except for the limp.
He was starting to get around on 3 legs pretty well.
