Who's got dogs? Post your pup!

@aelarson I had a Bassett Hound when I was a kid living at home…… 44k gallons of water in the backyard and I have a hound that Will Not Swim or Doggy Paddle.
Confetti’s ears would float full out and she would be blowing bubbles until I scooped her out the couple times she fell in!
I had her go out one night around 03:30 just to hear dog nails across the concrete then Splash.

I’m looking for vest now.

Making friends. Hard to believe just a year ago he was that small. This little guy was brave and fiesty, Tuco laid down to get to his level and let the pup jump and paw at him. I've seen him be super gentle and patient with small children, first time he has seen such a small puppy and he did the same. Amazing.

Today was heartbreaking. My beloved toller of 14 years went to heaven. He was a life-changer for me and created memories that will stick with me forever. Bone cancer got a grip and dealt the final blow. He endured more pain that I should have allowed but making the decision to put him down was a difficult one. It will take a long time to heal this loss. RIP Norman.

 

Sorry for your loss. Don't beat yourself up too much, just remember the good memories. Time heals all wounds.

I'm sorry for your loss. Nothing can be said to help, unfortunately. It's just something you have to feel, and it takes time. Dogs are 1000% worth it, though. Best friends ever.

 

14 is a long and happy life.

So sorry for your loss , at 66 I've lost 4 , they are a best friend while here and a wonderful thought when I'm alone.

 

@Tundra-in-Cement all of us 'dog people' have cried, and will cry and miss them again.....
Good luck, recovery from this is rough but we all knew was worth it when we became dog parents.

Thanks everyone for those kind words. It's been a rough day for my wife and I.

 

That just means you guys love your pets. If it didn't tear you up to lose them, then you'd have no heart. It will get better, but it takes a long time.

 

He’s a beautiful pup! So sorry that’s always a hard thing to decide and go through. 14 years of an amazing life I’m sure is a great life for a big dog!! RIP Norman, say hi to Paco and Mokuy for me and chase as many squirrels as you can up there!

So sorry of losing your buddy. My wife and I understand as we have had to let some of ours go several years ago. I know you gave him a great life!

 

I was so heartbroken over the loss of my last dog I spent 5 years without a dog... Now my new dog works everyday to make up for that. Take time to mourn and always have those memories but don't punish yourselves...

I just went through similar situation recently.

March 15 a few days after moving into our new home my wife and I had to put Tank (pitbull) down after his spleen burst (there had been a growth we didn't know about).

June 16 our 13 year old pitbull's stomach inverted and they said the chances of successful repair were slim to none, so we chose to say goodbye instead of missing out on the chance while he was in surgery.

It hurts... thats ok - it shows that the dogs were more than just pets to you and your family.

 

One of my best dogs I’ve had was a Queensland Healer! He would follow me everywhere, being jumping off a cliff into a lake or swimming down 6’ to get his frisbee off the lake bottom. Fearless loyal pups!!!

 

So sorry for your loss, it's worse than I ever imagined when I had to let go. Just keep those memories and pictures close and know that he is loving his new life pain free up there.
