Tuco said goodbye to his buddy Kalel today. He lived here for 9 months, thats more than half of Tuco’s life. He left with his owner today, unclear if they'll see each other again for now. You can see the sadness.

I wanted a faster vehicle so I also bought a Chevy SS... because 4 door sedans with big V8’s are hilarious.

We lost our Lab-Ridgeback cross last November. We had her 13 years. It was a rough holiday season for sure. I feel for you Tim, sorry for your loss.

Dogs come into our lives wanting only to be loved. They see no color, no financial status, no level of good looks verses not good looking, they see none of this.
They will stick by you even if they don't get fed.
They look at you as the central God figure in their lives.
The pain we feel when they are taken from us is a pain we refuse to ignore or run from because it was born from pure unadulterated love of best friend on four legs.
I have a long time friend who just happens to be one of the blessed people who have psychic abilities. He helps police find missing children, helps people through intense personal loss and as long as I have known him which is around 20 years, he's never been wrong.
He told me that when we leave this earth, literally all the time, the first spirits who are waiting for us are our pets.
He said sometimes our pets are so numerous over the years that our family can't get in to meet us due to our pets at the front of the line so to speak.
He said they are with us after they pass, we just cannot see them but, calling them by name, they will let you know they are there watching over.
Use this as a comforting truth because it is.

Pups in their sandbox while I mowed today...
    They are indoor dogs...

Made this sandbox for them, lights and all...
Keep the sand wet in the summer months so they dig down and lay in the cool sand.
They know they can dig in there all they want, so they don't dig in other parts of the yard..
Put green Xmas lights on it 1 year and decided to leave them on year around..

Yep your pup, good looking boy.

Is he pretty work/prey drive focused? I’ve heard Dutchies can be a handful if they don’t have a J O B.

That's the fanciest cat litter box I've ever seen

Oh they are a handful...his prey drive is low for his breed because it wasn't developed when he was a pup...He was born in the Netherlands, bred to compete but his first handler couldn’t control him, so she gave him up to someone who thought they could. That person handed him off to someone else who said they also thought they could control him, but didn’t give him the benefit of the doubt and basically handed us the leash before even knowing who we were.

He's still very stubborn and tests us constantly but we train constantly even at 5 years old to keep his attitude in check but he has a very well controlled off switch and doesn't get destructive even if we have a busy couple of days he he doesn't get as much exercise as he'd like

How do you keep the sand outside? Doesn't it come in on their fur?

A few of my Maligator that passed a few years ago. Intense serious dog when in working mode, but a goof who loved to play and enjoyed his downtime.

And my previous "once in a lifetime dog" Vait (the male sitting in the pix). He was a Lord Vom Gleisdreieck grandson. He was PP trained and stone cold reliable. My nieces could take him out for a walk and he was aware of his size and ability, yet would not so much as tug on the leash. He was aloof, but sociable when it mattered. Its been 14 years and I still miss that guy every friggin day! Sasha (the girl laying down) was another great pup, our trainers called her Sybil - she was a balanced well behaved girl that was as sweet and family oriented as any Golden Retriever, but put her in working mode and she was a force to be reckoned with.

Both pups were certified therapy dogs that we took to hospitals and nursing homes, they both loved interacting with patients.

If I know they've been digging I brush them off before they come in.
Like when Maverick buries Moxie, he was so proud of himself....

    b0ux1rgl_a65a99437149bc5ad40777e7ffa5089458b1f6eb.jpg p9f2cmdt_a97cccd1f267b7c137d3d692e7db8b92490fcc23.jpg

A little bit of it comes in the house, but we vacuum once a week.
It's worth it for happy pups..

    It was Malloy's favorite place.
His ashes are buried behind the new sandbox..
This is the first one I built for him and Moxie.
I tore it down and made a bigger one..
