My daughter is getting ready to be a nurse and wants to have dogs but she knows with the work schedule it would be hard. I'm sure if she did, my house would turn into a dog daycare.

Yes, it is to hard unless you either live with someone that has a 9-5 schedule, or you work yourself work 8 hour shifts. It isn't fair to the dog(s) to leave them for 12-14 hours alone three days a week, or to burden someone else with it.

That's what kids are for durng a pandemic..school from home, summers off etc. :bananadance:.

That said, when we are at work, ours is alone for 7hrs or so. But our dogs have always had full access to the house and yard via dog door. Never kenelled or locked outside. The downside is, they don't learn to bark if they accidentally get stuck in a room and the unlevelled door closes behind them

    Some new pics of Lacy...

I woke her up from a nap :)

She tired herself out from playing with a toy.

I work at home and she lays under my desk while I work.

She keeps staring at me because she knows that it is almost time for a walk.

My always faithful companion... waiting for me to finish my workout.
    upload_2020-12-7_13-24-4.jpg

She got a new toy that is super squishy and crinkly. This toy will not last long.

She wants me to grab it and throw it.

She loves the new toy so much that she wants to take it with her on her walk.

She destroyed that turtle in a couple of days so here is her new toy. She wants me to throw it again :)

Some of you might remember my "start time in County or wait for prison" thread. That friend, who by the way waited for prison and is doing fine, has a dog. He needed a long term sitter and Tuco could use a companion to better learn how to act with dogs. We took him in during October with no real idea when we will give him back, could be 7 months to a year.

This is Kalel, 8 year old male poodle
    20201209_074758.jpg

At first I wasn't sure it would work out. This dog has basically been raised in small apartments and just hung out with his owner. He barks at people until he gets to sniff them, then he's okay. With dogs however he gets really aggressive.

Tuco is far too quick and has amazing reactions, so he was never harmed. This poodle didn't like him at all for a few days and tried biting but got a mouthful of air every time. Probably didn't help that Tuco was humping him every chance he got. :anonymous:

After about 2 weeks of Tuco relentlessly begging him to play, barking at him, humping him for not complying, Kalel learned to play with Tuco and now they almost never stop. They wrestle, they play Nascar around my coffee table, they play tug o war, and they seem to get on the same vibe pretty frequently.

Now I'm working on getting him to not freak out when he sees people or dogs on walks. Unfortunately Tuco started picking up this vibe from him and started doing it too, and that was a behavior I had gotten rid of before.

Its worth the work though, this guy has lost some weight and is in much better shape already. Plus Tuco is learning to obey some commands that he would have ignored before, Kalel listens and obeys just about everything I say and Tuco has been observing and mimicking. Win win.

Nah! Every time I had to get down I'd throw toys for them. Then they'd fight over toys and run around the pasture until we were back on the roof again.
