I heard an interview today with an optometrist that said he could almost determine the time at which someone had looked at an eclipse by the shape & size of the crescent burned into the eye.

Had a decent view here in Charlotte, 98%. Was neat, but missed the getting dark part here. Everything just got less bright ha. Good excuse to goof off for a couple hours.

Best part was it actually cooled off for good hour or so. And now it's back to steaming hot.

I was out front viewing and the whole block about 12 people came over to see thru my glasses as i was the only one on the block with glasses. I enjoyed bsing with neighbors and giving them a chance to view it. My wife was the only one at her work with glasses so she had to share hers too.

I couldn't believe the humidity last week when I was there. Sun would go down and it just stayed muggy. Reminded me of my days in Southern Indiana. It was not a welcome memory.

Well it was kinda a non event here in CO. If you looked through the glasses you could see it moving across. Got maybe a little dimmer but not by much. Heard it is a much different experience in the location of totality though. Excited for the year 2045 where totality will be south Denver/Aurora and south.

I have to say...this was incredible

We had two spots picked out in the 100% path, one was originally forecast for fewer clouds, and the other kept getting cloud forecasts all week leading up to today....we made a decision late last night to stay in town instead of heading out to where our backup spot was 2 hours (normal driving)...what a great decision! The clouds tried to move in early and then as the eclipse started, they all just faded off and disappeared. We were able to have a completely unobstructed view of the entire thing from start to finish. We got to experience everything including the temp drop, the 360 degree sunset, the darkness, stars during the day, crazy shadows, the diamond ring, Bailey's beads, and of course the corona.

My brother and dad had cameras set up tracking it with solar filters and I'm looking forward to their results but absolutely incredible experience. I risked a little bit and just at the last second took my glasses off as it went into full corona and WOW!

To make this experience even more incredible, the last time SC had a chance to see 100%, my dad was talked out of going to the 100% path and stayed in the 99% and regretted it every day since the 70s...I got to watch him cheese like a kid on Christmas morning and experience something with him that he has literally waited my entire life to experience.
