Who would sacrifice 6" of back crewmax for 6' bed?

I love the crewmax seat space, but I would sacrifice 6" of the space if it meant having an additional 6" or so for the 6' foot bed.
Even with it being 6" shorter there still be plenty of space.

I’m good with my crew space as I don’t haul a lot of stuff. Most of the camping gear fits just fine. If bed was 6” longer then truck would fit in the garage, so happy compromise right now

Wouldn't that be a double cab? I believe the CM and DC are the same overall length? Oh wait the DC has a 6.5 foot bed. I would probably be ok with what you said, but I will say riding in the back seat as an adult is great in the CM, I just carry kids back there so the 6 inches wouldn't be bad to give up I suppose

Agree with CoMiamiFan. I’m good with the CM in the current configuration.

    So, a double cab basically?

They should make a CM 6.5’ bed.

If the CM was any longer it wouldn’t fit in my garage.

CrewMax made the most sense for me because you can easily add more gear/haul/storage capacity but you can never add more cab room. There are roof racks, bed racks, and even bed-based systems (eg. Decked) that add room. If you need to haul something long, just drop the tailgate.

I’ve always thought this would be a good option.
No it would be in between a double cab and crew max. The crew Max and double cab are essentially the same length just the bed and cab configurations are different. I think it would be great to have six more inches in the cab of my truck just to sacrifice 6 inches in the bed. Plus I think it would look perfectly proportionate between the two models. I know the crew Max is awesome and like a freaking limousine back there, but I do feel that is somewhat a waste space for someone like me.

like any other trim package, there is a tradeoff for preference. I think they got it right as is.

Had a DC. Used the bed maybe once? Wanted more room in the backseat for kids, plus a drop down rear window. Grabbed the CM and haven’t turned back. Ironically, I’ve used the bed of this truck more than my DC.

For me I want the option of sleeping back there with the gate up. I’m just over 6 foot. So six-foot bed is tight but it’s a lot better than a 5 1/2 foot bed.
Back in the day when I had a shell on my truck with a six-foot bed, I could fit my quad in there and shut the tailgate and window. That way I could fastlane on the way out to my riding area and not use my trailer. Then I could still sleep in the back my truck. Also it was safer in parking lots because no one knew it was back there. The only way I could get it in there was too loosen the handlebars and take my tailgate off temporarily. I got really good at getting it done.

I will take cab space all day. That extra 6 inches would not make big enough difference.

If I had to sit in the back, I'd want to ride in a CM. But I'd be super happy with splitting the difference: I could chillax in the backseat and in the bed. Even better for me would be CM - 3" = 6'2" in the bed.

I'd damn sure take more cab space than a DC, if I could still sleep in the bed (6'1" +).

I prefer all the interior space of the CM and the bed is big enough for what we use, basically a big car with a big open trunk (took care of that with a Mx4 cover). My vote is leave it as is.

How 'bout a 6" shorter truck? Take 6" from the cab, my kids are getting older and soon I won't need the huge back seat. I've gotten by as a contractor for years just fine with the short bed. Just don't take away my drop window.;)

Nope, the configuration is good as is. Now if they wanted to make the bed 6' with the CrewMax as is, fine. It's already a long beast to park, what's another six inches? But no changes to the interior except for bringing back the reclining seats AND a full-length locking storage box underneath.

    Too many…scratch that…not done yet.
To each, his own. As an outdoorsman/hunter, I like the bigger bed space of the double cab...and have at times, filled it up. I don't have little kids to haul around, but when I do have people in the back, no one has ever complained about the room of the double cab.
Apparently Toyota has sold enough of the dbl cab and cm to keep selling both.

I think if you asked the dealer, you could probably "build" the truck you wanted, for the right price??? i.e., shorter/longer bed, sunroof, power rear window, etc.

Absolutely. The DC fits my needs 95% of the time. The Crewmax would be nice for the car seats, and would have bought one if it had a bigger bed. The SCREW 6.5' bed is one thing Ford is doing right.

It would be fine with me. I did not need cab space. I Would have bought a DC if it had a power rear window like CM. I rarely have passengers.

    CM all the way!!
When I go camping and pull my trailer, I throw my boy’s quad and my dirt bike and my generator and some other stuff in the back of my crew max. Love it!!

Doesn’t mater how long you bed is, it’s how you use it that maters :D

CM was a deciding factor for me when choosing Tundra. Love the cab and bed configuration! I wanted a truck that would fit in my garage and if I had to give up one it was bed length over cab space. When we go camping it's me, wife and 3 full size dogs. All 3 are happy as can be back there:)
