The upcoming Ford F-150 Raptor is set to be the most extreme factory-made pickup ever created.

It has a 450 hp turbocharged engine, over a foot of wheel travel, and a 4x4 system that’s just as good at flying through the desert as it is crawling over rocks. But what if it were 50 percent more extreme?

Hennessey Performance has answered that question with the VelociRaptor 6x6, which features a stretched bed and a second, lockable Raptor axle added to the rear.

The modified suspension incorporates the high performance Fox shocks from the stock Raptor, and the truck gets a mean set of bumpers, unique 20-inch wheels, and a light bar with searchlight-sized LEDs mounted to it.

The price for the VelociRaptor is an appropriately extreme $295,000 -- just a small markup over a Raptor SuperCrew’s $52,505 base. Being the power broker that it is, Hennessey also offers a turbo, exhaust, and intercooler upgrade for the Raptor’s 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V6 that boosts it to 600 hp for an extra $22,500.

Coincidentally, the grand total of $317,500 is almost exactly the same as six regular Raptors, but the VelociRaptor is sure to get six times more attention anywhere it goes.

And it looks like it can go just about anywhere.

I wonder if he will be stealing the extra axles from other trucks he has in the shop.

Some cool vehicles come out of there, but Hennessey runs a covert swap meet.

Why would anybody buy this thing? What's it used for? You can't load anything into the bed because it's so short. How often does anybody, even here on this forum, go offroading?

Looks to me like something someone would semi-permanently park in an unused spot in their driveway just to have a conversation piece with passersby & the neighbors. I have a 400 ft driveway with a huge turnaround & woods & hills all around me with no visible neighbors who would even know I have it, I guess I'll just stick to the highly useful albeit mediocre 16 Tundra.

As you alluded to; things like this aren't about need, they are about want.

They are just copying the Mercedes 6X6, which is way cooler than this in my opinion.

Now that I see, from looking at their ads, these are used for offroadinging in a damn desert! There are no damn deserts within 2k miles of me! I need to load firewood & a couple of toys to & from the backside of my property & hitching a trailer to get there ( and out again) is impossible because of tight turn spaces between huge hardwood trees which make a trailer useless.

Ya the Mercedes looks way cooler. But in regards to the normal 2017 Raptor...it does look pretty cool.

Someone has to buy one so we can get the inside scoop on if it is worth it.
