So I'm off my feet for the next few weeks with a fractured ankle and decided to start planning/ordering parts for my next few mods. Not my ideal way to spend 50% of my paid vacation but might as well make the most of it!

First on my list is to add a LED lightbar behind my TRD Pro grille.

My questions to those who have mounted a lightbar behind the grille already:

    1. What size lightbar did you use?
    2. What brackets did you use to mount it?
    3. How did you wire it up?

If there is a DIY thread already on this please link!

I'm positive there is a thread on this, just to lazy to find it. Very self explanatory though.I just popped my grill off, lined everything up, shimmed the bar and used some self tapping screws. Bar I bought had a harness with relay come with. Routed that bitch through the firewall and bam, had a light bar. bar is a 30 inch.

I used a 40" bar, fit perfectly with the brackets that came with it. I think I put a couple washers under them to raise the light up a 1/4 inch.

I may do the same thing. I plan on mounting it behind my TRD Pro grill, but I had similar questions, so thanks for starting this thread.

Is the housing blacked out too? That looks good! Wish more companies would black it out inside, looks way better IMO.

yes sir. the backing and housing are all black which i hoped would help keep the bar relatively covert behind the grille.

Light bars are becoming like craft beers. There are always new ones coming out that you have never heard of.

Nice, I wasn't even aware anyone besides RIGID made a blacked out bar. That is definitely gonna look mean! Post up some pics when you're finished with install!

Looks like my search continues because now I want a blacked out one! Think that would look a lot better with the blackout theme of my truck, plus it won't stand out as much like you say.

rigid makes killer stuff but it doesn't come cheap. just after christmas i replaced my stock fog lights with a set of d2's and i love them but the little cubes cost more than double what i paid for that 30" kodiak.
i should mention that i really don't expect the kodiak light bar to stack up against what a rigid can put out but it can't be far off either!

next up is a lift/level in the next couple of months. right now its looking like some 6112's.

Thanks for pics man! Looks badass! If you find time soon during the day I wouldn't mind seeing what it looks like turned off from a couple yards away with the whole front of the truck in the shot.

Looks really stealthy on yours, but the trucks also black and there is low lighting as well!

for sure i will. i also crammed these photos down a bit so they weren't ridiculous huge, tomorrows will be better.
i suppose it's like you would see with other trucks that have a light bar behind the grille, you kind of have to look for it then once you notice it seems obvious... only with this you see it a little bit less than normal :)

I put the rigid fog lights on my 2014 TRD... They are super bright, functional and you're right... They don't come cheap... But worth the $$$. They are rugged and I wired them to work with the original fog light switch on the stalk. They look cool too! Light bar next...
