SO... I will tell all for those who are interested:

I picked it up late in the day yesterday, June 1, at Gateway Toyota in Toms River, NJ. I had put a deposit on it, on March 10. On April 21, I was notified it would built on May 12. And it was. It went onto a railcar on May 13. Yesterday morning it was still in "F" (freight) status and by midday, I noticed the status had changed to "G" (ground). Within a few hours, I got a call from the dealer to come pick it up. I wanted celestial silver, but magnetic gray metallic was my second choice. Now, looking at it in person, I am glad I got this color. I LOVE the truck so far, but my schedule has been busy and I haven't yet been able to spend much quality time with it. It's driving me crazy! I don't even know how many of the bells and whistles work. I'll get there. My schedule will soon improve. (I retired a year ago and can't figure out how I ever had enough time to work!)

That is a great looking truck!!! So disappointing for us in the Pacific Northwest. My build date was 4/29 and the truck is still in “processing”. Hasn’t even been loaded on a train yet for transport. I have concluded that Toyota must be having some issues shipping up here as it seems there are a few of us up this area that have been waiting quite a while.

The tracking on these is so wild. Mine was built May 4th and delivered to Portland on May 20th.

I have actually started wondering if it is a WA issue. Although I know others in Idaho that have the same wait times. I started wondering if there was some exorbitant amount of paper work for our state that slows them down (would NOT be surprised if that was the case…) :frusty:

Congratulations! Beautiful looking truck. If I was getting a Platinum (instead WCP 1794) that MGM color would be my pick. I think that color looks great with the wheels and black accents. Also, thank you for the order, build date, etc. information that those of us who are still waiting are interested in.

If it is, it'd be an issue for the whole NW region, I'd guess, rather than just WA state. And it seems that there are ebbs and flows in which region is getting inventory sent to it.

    Thank you for this!
Thank you for this! My truck was built 23/24th of last month and was told it hit the train on the 26th. I’m the other direction, in WA state, but hopefully it’s a similar train ride as far as time. The suspense is killing me. My deposit was in on the 20th of March. Feels like an eternity ago now.

My build date was 5/24 and confirmed yesterday it hit the train 2 days later, the 26th. 3-4 weeks out is what I was told. I’m in WA state.

Yeah, I had first deposit down in Nov, for a Limited, and changed my specs a few times. I opened up for a Limited or 1794 in Apr and took delivery in May. I needed Crewmax, TRD Offroad, 6.5' bed, and panoramic roof.

Ya I was pretty hard on a Platinum. But gave them supersonic red or metallic grey for colors. Must haves were 4x4, crew max with a 6.5ft bed. My salesperson tried to tell me how waiting for the truck was gonna be like meat in a crockpot… “your wants are the meat on the bone. Eventually the meat will just fall off, like your must haves.” To which I replied, “I live where we need 4x4. I don’t have kids and only drive with adults, so crew max is a need. I am getting a pano roof so no roof rack and I have kayaks… need a 6.5 foot bed. And the color is only gonna be one of those two, cause I’m not spending 70k plus on a truck I don’t like looking at.” Here reply was simply, “well ok, we will wait then.” And wait we did. Not horrible, but still feels like forever when I already sold my truck and have to borrow wife’s car when I want to do shit. We have a third car but we try to limit the driving. 45k mile 05 vette. Nothing crazy, but we still like not using it as a daily.

Yeah I told several sales folks that if I'm spending 65k+, I'm not compromising on what I need in a vehicle. I had a few other purchase options but was doing OK limping around my FJ Cruiser with a blown head gasket while I waited. Another month or two and I'd probably have found a Ram instead though

Take a closer look at the fender flares, they are like the mustache... perhaps they were all painted after factory.

I know it's not yours and it's not directed to you. But I don't get the captivation with the Capstone. I can't believe folks are gunning for this. The TRD Pro is a good buy at MSRP, it's a competitively equipped truck to the AT4 and it's cheaper.

But the Capstone is just not. I see nothing special about that pushes it to the 80's. Exterior is okay and has good paint matched parts but the interior is awful and I don't see the value over a hybrid plat or 1794

the only thing i can think of is that the mustache and fender flares are painted after the fact on a different line since they are minor parts compared to the major body parts.

Well…per Toyota it’s for the swanky folks making that cappuccino run :D:notsure:

My home made black coffee (with a little Hazlenut creamer) doesn’t qualify so SR5 it is.

I posted the following back in September on the "what do you want the next gen Tundra to be?" thread: https://www.tundras.com/threads/what-do-you-want-in-2022-tundra.83760/page-10#post-2397411

You can definitely tell the Capstone was someone's pet project and was never intended to make it to production. The capstone should have been for the guy that wanted the luxury of a Ford F150 limited, but looked at the blue interior and thought it was obnoxious; thought $85k for a Denali Ultimate is ostentatious; and thought the Ram Limited luxury features were nice, but wanted reliability. It should have borrowed characteristics of those three trucks. Instead, it's just a slightly nicer platinum.

I feel like the Capstone was aimed at people like me, but they missed the mark on a few items by trying to make it too many things to too many people. I think this is where you see them trying too hard to copy other brands. They put 22" wheels on it, two tone interior, and chrome letters on the tailgate. I feel like they forgot their target demo for this was probably the same crowd that used to spend $85k for a Land Cruiser (and those that used to lust for them), not the crowd wishing Cadillac made a pickup. I would have preferred they started with a clean sheet of paper and thought a little bit harder about who this was aimed at. I don't see them stealing sales from the other brands' high end luxury trucks.

The capstone should have been more understated. They got it right with the grill, and to be fair, it has less chrome than the 1794. Americans used to buy the Land Cruiser because they wanted something nice but not extravagant. The chrome letters on the tailgate are a sign they didn't understand that.

The capstone should have picked up where the 1794 and platinum left off. It didn't. It should have gotten the acoustic glass and nicer leather, but the leather should have been one color. The truck also should have gotten a nicer stereo (I know the one in the LX isn't very good), better interior lighting (blue only on the ambient?!? why?), auto or full time 4wd, generator capability?, unique wheels but probably 20", four corner air ride?, and whatever else they needed to do to differentiate it from the platinum. Last, it should have been priced to undercut the other brands $5-$10k.

I remember when we were taking guesses at what it should have.

I think on top of what you mentioned it should have massage seats, adjustable pedals, standard AVS, exterior puddle lights, unique startup sequence on the digital cluster, etc.

TRD Air Filters, Front door windows tinted to match the rears. Wheel locks, Talons Garage cat shield, Tyger Automotive soft tonneau cover, WeatherTech floor mats with Tuff Skinz Custom Emblem kit, Toyota OEM Emblem Black Out kit. AVS vent covers on all four doors, Red Tundra letters on front bumper & TRD highlighted in Red on front grille. Tailgate Tundra Letters in Black.
I was just scrolling through all the 2022 pics and wow these trucks do look sharp!

I pulled the trigger on a 2022 Limited CM TRD OF in Lunar Rock. I was in a pickle with high miles on my 2017 and after speaking with my dealer he said the 2023 Toyota prices will most likely increase now that the manufacturer see's the demand and mark ups from the dealerships. I was fortunate enough that my Toyota mechanic friend wanted my 2017. The 2017 has 83,000 miles on it and once I hit 100,000 I would lose a few more bucks.

So I put a grand down and secured what I wanted. The hybrid was a tad out of my reach and availability wasn't on my side. I can wait another 6 years for a hybrid :)
