He’s really going to be disappointed when he gets the socket, hooks it up to the wiring and then realizes he needs an inverter to make it work.

And the journey begins (traded 2020 Army Green TRD-PRO, dealer gave me $59k for a truck I paid $52 for 3 years ago against MSRP with no fees - I couldn’t pass it up).

Crewmax guys love saying you can’t fit an adult in the back. These guys did forget to mention IMO the real reasons a person would most likely want a double cab. More capable (by the numbers), and shorter overall while still getting the 6.5’ bed. To me a shorter truck is just far more capable of doing the stuff I do with a truck(parking, turning around on tight forested back roads, pulling a u turn with a boat trailer, and while being able to camp in the back and haul more gear while still fitting in parking spots). And yes I agree there’s plenty of room in the back seat and saving around 3k was nice.

Are the 3rd gen double cab 6.5’ bed and Crewmax 5.5’ bed the same overall length? Those were the exact same length in the 2nd gen. I opted for the extra foot of cab and shorter bed…I fill up the backseat area with gear for work that needs to be climate controlled. And I have no problem carrying a cubic yard of mulch or 12’ lumber in my baby bed. Tailgate is down for the lumber but whatever. It would be down with a 6.5’ shortbed as well. Toyota even arbitrarily gave me a higher GVWR so my payload is comparable to similarly equipped double cabs.

I can’t camp in the bed; that’s for sure. But most of the camping I do is backpacking. I’m just glad Toyota gave us one more crew cab option with the 3rd gen (the crewmax 6.5’ bed) even if they dropped the regular cab offering.

Yes they are the same total length. I’m glad they gave us more options as well. I have never gone on a trip and thought man I wish this bed was smaller. Coming from the 6’ Tacoma bed I think this 6.5 while being wider is perfect. I have more back seat storage then I had as well. While not having all that extra cab space that I wouldn’t use.

Ha. In the same way, I have never gone on a trip with my wife up front, our three kids in the back, our 65-lb chocolate lab on the floor at their feet on one side, and a 1’x1’x2’ box of travel activities on the floor on the other side and wished we had a smaller cab. I’ve also never wished I had just one more foot of bed length. When I go 3rd gen, it’ll probably be crewmax/5.5’ bed again. I too prefer the shorter wheelbase, especially when out on a trail.

I actually think the double cab 2.5 gens look better than the crewmax. But the smaller cab doesn’t work for us, and the bed with one extra foot of length is still a short bed. The crewmax has more utility for my needs. At least Toyota still offers the 8.1’ bed for people who need an actual long bed.

Makes perfect sense in your situation. If I had kids I would be in a crewmax since your basically constantly traveling with passengers in the back seat. Specially ones with little muddy feet.

They had something like 40 Tundras at the Daytona 500 today, they used them to drive the racers around the track.

been looking for this post, found it
I want to de-badge my Platinum as well.
I asked the dealer to do it before I picked up and they said it would leave holes!
I said I highly doubt that as it is glued on and can be removed with fish line and a heat gun?

Can you confirm that is the case?

Dealers body shop would not do it.
    TIA

If you're talking about things like limited, platinum, or 4x4, then there are no holes. Fishing line, plastic butter knife and a little prosol will take care of it. Just time and care and the jobs done.

The only one I see that might have holes are the large chrome door trim on the 1794s. They are large enough to require a hole, but are seated in a recessed spot that may give the stickum enough purchase to not require a clip to hold it in place. It's hard to say. I tried to find the part for it to see if the parts fiche showed clips, but no luck finding it yet.

Best looking '22 that I've seen thus far. I'll definitely be getting a black one with the Toyota/TRD lift after seeing this...
