You are both exactly right, and I should of pm’d Mark that. The reason I wanted him to make sure his doctor covered that is because I’ve met him, he is a cool dude, but mostly because of elevation. Almost guarantees an infection(I do not know why), and I see he was treated accordingly.

The one thing I don't get to this day is that so many people think cold weather can make you get a cold or flu. If true..then everyone on the AK north slope would be sick and everyone in Florida is safe.

I was the same way until recently. I've got my three grandkids staying in my place. I don't want to catch anything from them or give them something...

For the record.....your advice was on par. I have such an infection that a Zpack was prescribed as well. I sound like I inhaled a long haired cat and can’t muster a hairball!!

You’re our ringer in the darts competition against @Patriot and @matluth
They dont believe you can shoot, but I’ve seen your accuracy

Flu shot didn't work for me. I think taking vitamin C daily has been working for me so far. Knock on wood. :)

Saw that a lot the first time I got to J A Pan. Quite responsible actually by the locals. Not just to potentially keep from spreading something , but also to not get something. It sucks to be sick.

I treat my sick leave like an insurance policy. If I have some kind of catastrophic illness/injury I want my paycheck to continue to roll on in.

That's actually a little closer to 250 work days .

We're fortunate that we can carry unlimited sick days. Vacation days are limited to 240 hrs carried over to the next year.

Absolutely not. A zpack is antibiotics and will do nothing against a virus.

Same here. I have nearly a year of sick leave on the books. It'll add a year of employment to my retirement. A small addition, but every little bit will help.

The flu virus is a wierd beast. It circles the globe annually (hence why we have flue seasons) and as it circles, it mutates. So our flu vaccine is based off of the previous months the virus spent in Asia. More often than not, it works.
Anecdotal stories of, "well I have never gotten the flu and I have never gotten the flu shot" don't make for gopd justification, just means you were prpbably never exposed to the virus.

Last time I had a flu shot was 33 years ago, in my last year of Air Force service. Not coincidentally, the last time i contracted the flu was 33 years ago, in my last year of Air Force service. Can’t conclusively state that there was cause and effect, but I live by a few creeds, and one of them is... “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”.

No shot here for 8 years. The last year I had to the shot, I got the flu. Ive only ever had the flu once since then, 2011, and I work around hundreds of sick and diseased illegal aliens almost daily. I truly believe my own built up immune system has kept me healthy. I take preworkout 3-5 days a week, workout minimum 5 days a week and opt outside whenever possible

There's a fair amount of evidence that indicates that taking a 5000-10,000 iu daily dose of vitamin D3 (in the form of cholecalciferol) is a more effective preventative against cold and flu viruses than the vaccine.

And when you do get exposed...it sucks. So far no one at work has it. We make him/her go home if they do show up.

Flu shot took two seconds and was free. I had no symptoms whatsoever. I take multivitamins daily with 250% D3.Can't hurt.
