If the chrome bolts on the fake beadlock ring bother you, you could have went with the Fuel Vector. It is very similar looking and the bolts are black so they blend in.

Here is a wheel that some of you may also like. New company to me means not many people have them yet. That's why I got some wheels from Hartes metal.
    20200123_064603.jpg

They are offering them in sizes 17 and 18.

I will say this.....if SCS would offer a black bolt kit I would order it! The nylon black bolts on eBay seem to cheap to put on wheels this nice.

    Hey Mike,

These are great follow up questions based on the info I shared with everyone here. I'll do my best to give you my insights on them.

    1. Yes, more Tundra owners are gearing towards 18" wheels in the recent years. Truck tire options are more abundant now than they were years ago when the Tundra first came out in 2007. My dad bought a 2007 Tundra when they first came out and we didn't have much wheel selections except for 20" wheels. Big wheels were the "thing" back then so we ended up with a set of 20" Moto Metal wheels.

Sales of the 20" Stealth 6 are extremely slow. We mostly sell them to Toyota dealerships and to overseas market. I don't think we will offer another 20" size option anytime soon. Personally, I think that the +12mm offset looks great on a lifted Tundra, but the internet has made it a fact that Tundra owners must use +25mm offsets or risk rubbing the tires to the ground. The Ray10 in a +12mm would look killer, but again, most owners will not touch it based on their internet research. We stepped out of the box with the Stealth 6 model, but in my eyes, it was a failed business decision. This model might go into retirement soon based on what I previously mentioned about what other companies are doing. This is a very competitive industry so that's how it goes sometimes.

    2. Icon wheels are made for universal fitment so they don't have to rely on just the Tundra crowd for sales. They make the same wheel model to fit Ford, GM, Toyota, Dodge, and so forth. This goes for all the other brands. We've put ourselves in a niche market where are wheels are made/spec'd for only the Tundra/Land Cruiser/Sequoia fitment. This was our ticket to be able to compete with the big boy companies out there. I still personally feel like the Tundra crowd will not support a 17" size offering. This target audience is a lot smaller than what most people assume. We need to be able to sell 70-100 sets per month for it make business sense, but that would be tough in my opinion. ICON and/or other brands can spread that qty among all the Ford, GM, Toyota, and Dodge trucks that they cater towards.

    3. The Tacoma/4Runner guys will most likely get their next wheel model without the fake beadlock look so this might be the wheel design that will interest most of the folks here. The design itself will have our SCS touch to it so that won't change. I'd like to think that design wise, we are ahead of our competition, but this is all subjective and I'm a little bias :D. It's very easy to put out poorly designed wheels which is what I see being posted in this thread. The Enkei RPT1 is the exception. This is a classic design that will be around for many more years!

To have a nice concave look, the wheel spec has to lean towards a negative offset. For instance, if we did a 18x9 +12, it would look more concave than a 18x9 +25mm. The more closer to +0 offset or negative offset, the better. The problem is what I mentioned above. Most Tundra owners will be scared off by the aggressive spec. Otherwise, we would end up with a concave face with no lip/dish.

I hope this answers your questions!

I will continue to monitor this thread and read everyone's opinion. I do appreciate all feedback! I think my replies and insights that I'm sharing with everyone was taken the wrong way so I will refrain myself from replying further. We are all obviously seeing everything from different perspectives. I am far from an arrogant person, but text can make someone think that way. So I will bow out and read from afar. Please continue on with the dialog.

    Thanks
    Vin

Thanks for the perspective, the fact that SCS wheels don’t look like all the others is what draws me to them. I also like that they are spec’d for the Toyotas and hub centric. I love the F5 but it’s not available for my truck. I like the Stealth 6 and would go for that design in a second but do not want 20’s (side note- I tried to get my wife to like them for her Sequoia, she wants to stay stock). I like the Ray 10 even with the bead lock, my only hesitation is when it comes time to clean them. Both Fuel and Icon have new wheels (not 5x150) without bead locks so the market may be swinging that direction.

SCS wheels are the only wheels to me that look OEM. And I mean that as the highest compliment. Other wheels, to me, look like “rims” and I think that they are shit. But it’s just my opinion.

this looks like absolute turd to me.

OEM +60 is too tucked in to increase to a larger tire that looks a little better on the trucks. I’ll agree that +25 to +12 is kind of the sweet spot for our trucks but I don’t want to cut my wheel wells, frame and skid plates all to hell just to get a tire that looks like it actually belongs on a 4x4 “off road” truck.

    I think a +35 to +45 is what I’m looking for for a 295/70 or 305/70.

    Again just my opinion.

@SCSPerformance Is it true that the 18x9+25 Ray10 only weighs 27lbs 7oz? If so, that is a huge difference compared to the Fuel Vector which weighs in at 41lbs 4oz. That is a ton of rotational mass I can save with a set of Ray10s!

Kudos to SCS for creating a poll to see what the actual owners want and valuing our opinion to what we would like to see. Don’t like SCS wheels, that’s cool buy what you want, but are they willing to ask the question... I doubt it, if I didn’t have a set of aftermarket wheels already I’d consider an SCS wheel.

I just want to start by saying, I love my wheels except for the chrome bolts! It looks great on my truck. I like the offset and did not mind the weight until I over sized my tires. It's inexpensive and they make a similar wheel in 15 that I can put on my trailer.

Roost is the next option I am wanting. Both in looks and weight 28lbs, oh and no fake bead locks, but +18.

Ray10 is the other option both in weight 27lbs and +25 offset. I can live with the looks and fake bead locks I guess. I just have to really want it really bad to pay for shipping. I will hope that there will be another group buy since I missed it/did not really needed it at the time. As of now, it's actually on top of my list due to weight and offset.

Black Rhino Hachi is something I am considering, so it will match the Watanabe 8 spokes from my race car. But I'm still in the same offset as my current ones and fake bead locks.

Stealth 6 still in 18 and have the weight in the 27/28 range will be perfect, especially there's a big chance my wife will not notice the difference from my current wheels and Stealth 6.

Fuel vector is just too heavy. Too much offset as well.

Conclusion, not one wheel manufacturer can satisfy everyone's wants, needs and requirements for their build. I think it is great of SCS taking this poll from us. Yes, they can not fill our needs, since we are the odd ball size. But they are trying. I am sure when SCS comes out with new models or sizes, it will still sell like hotcakes.

I tough my wheels and tire obsession had pass. I guess not.

Really need some 22x10 options, like 0 offset or +18 or so. So limited on what is out there and I need 22's to have the clearance I want around the TRD big brakes.

Well a - 44 offset definitely is not for everyone. But showing us a ford that is a turd is not helping you prove a point.:thumbsup:

And Just my opinion if a tundra is done right with a huge negative offset they look really good

    Something like this one.

    @SCSPerformance

Voted for F5. It would be nice to see an F5 available for our truck since it would likely make an ideal value of being the lightest/affordable 18" combo for the Tundra. The Ray 10s already weigh the same as the forged TRD wheels, it would be nice to have an option that was lighter than that.

The only other wheel option I really love, that SCS doesnt seem to offer their own personal touch on is the Volk TE37. Both your 6 spoke options dont resemble the TE37, which is fine, but it would be nice to see another option for one of the most popular wheel styles out there.

Also, as Ive voiced a few times already, I'd love to see more unique color choices for the Tundras. I'm still dying to get a stealth blue set, lol. I know the Tundra crowd is likely your smallest customer base, but I've owned 2 sets of SCS wheels now both for the 4runner and Tacoma and it seems from my experience you produce quite a bit more of the special color options for those applications.

Another plus with scs wheels are that they are hub centric. Less stress on your lugs. Even volk racing wheels that cost 3x as much are not. Having met Vin personally gives me another plus towards scs. They are a great group of guys to support and I don’t regret going with their wheels.

Threw a set of F5's on my 2014 FJ. I loved those wheels. Traded the FJ for a 2018 Tundra and grabbed a set of SR8's and have been extremely happy. Quality of product, prompt and thorough communication, superior service = wins everytime.

Crossing my fingers F5’s make production. Had them on my Tacoma and loved them. Received a ton of compliments to boot. Can’t beat the timeless 5-spoke Offroad design.

I already think you make the best looking wheel for the Tundra in the Ray 10. I'd love it if I had the option to order them with black bolts for the ring. That's all I'd change.

BR6 would be nice in +18/+25. Maybe matte black/magnesium blue would go good on Cement? Minus the bolts.
