Let me give you guys a little perspective on the "fake beadlock" design. Our Stealth 6 model for the Tacoma/4Runner/FJC was a pretty big hit among Toyota owners when it first came out. Like the Ray10, we couldn't keep them on the shelf for more than a week. They were constantly on backorder and customers were frustrated with us b/c we couldn't bring them in fast enough. This went on for a good 6-7yrs up until several other wheel companies decided to take our Stealth 6 model, tweak the spoke design just slightly, and added the "fake beadlock" look to it. Ever since that happened, sales of the Stealth 6 model slowed down. If you can follow my drift then you know exactly why that happened.

So, as a business, what do we do? In the case of the Stealth 6 design, customers now have 4-5 other brands to choose from with basically the same split 6 spoke design with a "fake beadlock" look. You guys keep thinking only for yourselves, but never take into account what the masses will actually support. How do we keep our doors open while keeping the customers happy?

At this very moment, it looks like you guys aren't really interested in what we offer design hence the vote for a new wheel model. This tells me that whatever comes next might not be a desired look for Tundra owners.

Much like the Land Cruiser crowd, if we asked 10 owners what they wanted, we would get 10 different answers. The result was they ended up with only 1 wheel offering since there wasn't a clear direction on what most owners wanted. 10yrs later, we're still in the same boat with that crowd.

These wheels I'm putting on my truck are not even close to what this is all about but I think personally do a directional wheel in the smaller sizes offer even a slight -20 or so offset giving some lip and a concave look boom I dropped the mic. But here is what I have on the way sorry not trying to step on toes here . 20200122_193949.jpg
But thos company only offers these wheels in a 20 or 22 with huge negative offsets

O and I could have loved this wheel even more without fake beedlock look

I have Ray 10's and bought them against my better judgement, the water, snow, salt that gets trapped in the lip and the money I had to spend to black out the fake bolts that I don't understand why they would be a stainless color on a bronze wheel with a black beadlock ring, makes no sense.

@SCSPerformance maybe you should be listening to the people who have actually purchased a set of SCSwheels before asking customers that might not even spend the money on a set.

With that said I changed my vote.

Im in the market for a wheel without the fake beadlock and as of right now my money is either going to Methods or factory Toyota BBS wheels.

I'm not knocking your statement but there are so many after market wheel companies out there. Amd I'm not promoting this company but check out custom offsets you can see alot of wheels on there gallery already on trucks.

So are you saying we shouldn’t respond honestly and instead give our opinions on what “sells”?

I always viewed SCS as a lower volume, more premium offering that tailors to the type of crowd you find on Forums versus trying to compete with Method, Black Rhino, etc. (which is why they’re willing to pay 30-50% more a set than mainstream brands). I appreciate the perspective you’re sharing but as a customer I don’t really care what’s happening on the back end. I do however trust whatever comes next from SCS will look great, fake beadlock or not.

I'm always game to hear people's opinion whether it's positive or not. For the most part, opinions on the forum are usually never in-line with what I'm thinking. I would never rely on people with no business experience to make business decisions. I'm just here to gather info and come to my own conclusion for the business.

I think we know where you stand from your first post o_O. It's always the stock wheel guys that start talking about forge wheels and/or wanting true beadlocks :bored:.

Definitely respond with your honest opinion. I was only explaining why we have to make certain decisions such as having a few wheel models with the fake beadlock look. You might not care about the back end, but if that's not taken care of, we won't be around for long. However, you're right. No one should care about that except ourselves!

I love the Ray10s, for Tacoma and Tundra. in the real, these things are works of art. I see a gazillion Methods, Fuel, XDs. While SCS is forum famous, I don’t see many around. And I like the little bit of uniqueness. I would like to see a new offering..and the BR6.

Ask people their favorite music and odds are you will hear a fair amount of shitty music. Or just show people Black Sabbath and then you know if they suck or not..

You sound upset you didn’t receive the feedback you wanted @SCSPerformance

Everyone has an opinion. Can’t trash someone for it because it isn’t the contrary popular opinion one wanted.

    I don't want beadlocks at all, that's why I don't have any.
Throw all the shade you want, but if you ask opinions and then trash them because you disagree, a public forum may be not your place.

Keep in mind, "stock wheel guys" are your next (potential) customer.

Personally I liked the F5 wheels; nice simple design and I bet they would be light as well. My wish list is to purchase a set of the SR8 wheels.

Before everyone jumps on @SCSPerformance like a dogpile, i dont think he was smug at all.

He simply stated why they aren’t focusing on the non beadlock look wheels.

Everyone has different tastes, and if he saw market pressure for a bunch of smooth lip wheels im sure he would produce more of them. I prefer the smooth lip as well, but I understand a lot of people prefer them. The average guy who buys rims for his truck walks into a tire shop and just buys them without looking at every brand on the net

I think it is clear that the masses like your wheel offerings, but consensus is against the bead locks. I think the rest of the crowd as you explained buy the wheels and others clone them, because they like the wheels, and just take the bead lock because they don't have a choice. Either that, or others like fake and Tundra owners don't. (Says the guy with a fake hood scoop..... :) )

What @ninjajay said. @SCSPerformance I like the design of your wheels, but the bolts on the lip were a deal breaker for me at the time I purchased mine. I had a very hard time finding truck wheels without beadlocks, bolts on the lips, whatever those fake things are in the wheels, so I landed on these. 3 years ago there wasn’t much without the fake bolts and when I bought mine I wasn’t 100% happy because choices were limited. I still think choices are limited when it comes to truck wheels without fake bolts.

I would add... @SCSPerformance probably did make the right move with the fake beadlock wheels 7 years ago. I think it’s simply a shift in customer preferences now where we’re wanting wheels without.

I really like the SCS lineup because nothing is overly gaudy and flashy. Even the gold styles I have seen aren't over the top. Would I prefer a wheel that doesn't have differently colored hardware around the circumference? Yeah, but that didn't stop from buying the Ray10s because the overall aesthetic is what I wanted.

These went on yesterday and I'm stoked.

I have to say I’m not a faux bead lock fan and I took forever to decide what to purchase. I bought the Ray 10’s. And I have to say in person the wheels are so nice. Pics don’t really depict the depth of the reveal behind the bead lock. They don’t look fake in person at all. On methods and others you can tell they are fake. But the SCS looks so close to a real bead lock in person. I bought the ebay black bolt kit but can’t bring myself to put them in because they actually look really great in person. And the quality of the wheel so good! And they balanced with hardly any weights! F5 is my favorite look, but can’t really complain about Ray 10s at all.

Also not a fan of fake beadlocks ... But at least the wheels scs carries with beadlocks look like bolts and not just a machined circles.

Thank you for the insight. This makes a lot of sense. I see a lot of posts on here asking for a 17", no fake beadlock, lightweight, +25 offset wheel like your F5 but made for the Tundra. And I for one would jump to buy a set, and I'd pay up front for it if that helped with production. But who knows how well they would sell in the mass market.

Below are a few observations. I'd love to hear your input:

    1. It seems that more and more Tundra owners are purchasing 18" aftermarket wheels instead of 20" aftermarket wheels. Do you find this to be true? How are sales of the existing 20x9 Stealth 6? My guess is that they have always been low and remain low, but I think it's also a function of the +12 offset. Have you considered updating these to +20 or +25 to see if it would improve sales?

    2. Icon 17" wheels with fake beadlocks seem to be selling well; they keep coming out with new models and include a 5x150 option for each model. Any way to track sales numbers? What about making a Ray10 or BR6 in a 17" for the Tundra to steal some of their sales?

    3. Instead of an entirely new design, how about making a version of the Stealth 6 that looks like the Enkei RPT1 that fits on the Tacoma? Something concave like this:

I'd like the BR6 center with the Stealth 6 outer rim in an 18".

"I would never rely on people with no business experience to make business decisions".

I agree however you don't know the business experience of the people offering their opinions. To me your statement seems a little arrogant but I'm sure I just mistook what you meant. If you use the polling results then you are making a business decision based on the unknown qualifications of those who participated in the poll.
