With the Hikari LED bulbs installed in the spyder lights, did you just install them under the cover or did you have to cut a hole for ventilation/the fan to poke through?

Seconded. I followed Backsliders lead, and don't regret going from my retros to spyders with LED.

They fit fine under the dust/moisture boots. I've never had a problem with overheating at all.

Appreciate it, the bulbs that come in them are horrible. I already had a set of HIDs coming for them when I saw your post, just wanted to know about the LEDs in case I'm not happy with the HIDs.

Yes, H11(H8/H9) all the same base & plug. Just a heads up though, I ordered a set of the Hikari LED bulbs and they will not fit in the Spyder headlights. The diameter of the Hikari LED bulb is 18mm and the opening in my Spyders is only about 13/14mm. I don't know if either the headlights have been redesigned or if the bulbs have changed, but the 35w HID kit fit just fine and is enough to make me happy.

Interesting, I run Hikari LEDs on Spyders and had no fitment issues whatsoever..

I agree that maybe either the bulb or the headlights might have undergone a design revision.

Can you post a link to the bulbs you ordered?

If it is the same ones you do have to unscrew and remove the black aluminum cap.

Ha! Yup, messed with me too. I was getting pretty pissed off until I realized it came off. Saved me a lot of time when I put Hikari LEDs in the OEM projectors in my wife's 4runner - but then I had to remove part of the heat sink because those projectors are side-loaded. =\

Wait, you mean I could have unscrewed the end and they would have fit. Damn, I just dropped them off to be sent back. Oh well, maybe I'll give them a try again in the future.

I am waiting for my Spyder's for 07-13 Tundras to be sent to me from eledobleu right now. He is almost done with them. Having ds2 Morimoto 4.0 projectors installed with RBG Led's swapped for the Spyder Leds. Maybe I will check out those LED H1 bulbs as well. Good to know
