I don't see the AMP powersteps available for 2022 tundra. Has anyone had luck at getting them put on?

The flare-out seems like it varies between the same models of the RB20s - is there some flexibility with how they're installed?

You have about an inch of adjustment when you’re installing it (I have the full-size RB20) so theoretically you could push in the front and pull out the back to make it look less angular relative to the cab.

I have mine tucked in as far as they’ll go and the front sticks out past the tires slightly while the rear is about flush when viewed from the front/back.

So do the TRD aluminum running boards extend far out enough for any door ding protection or do you need to go the Rb20s for that?

The “regular” OEM running boards are also aluminum. My truck came with them and I actually love them. I initially wanted the TRD ones, but glad it came with these instead.

How far out doe the TRD aluminum boards come from the body compared to RB20s for instance?

Can someone tell me if the TRD running boards are one piece meaning the board itself isn't separately bolted to the mounts, but rather welded as one piece? Also does it have wider support arms vs the single vertical support arm many aftermarket seem to have. I am not a fan of the single vertical support method and want something a bit stronger. I have done a lot of searching and it appears the TRD boards use an upside down c channel mount, but can't tell for sure.

Ultimately I prefer them to not have mounts below the board, but think most are that way. I may have to end up going with some type of rock slider, but don't really need them for the intended purpose.

    Thanks.

This is true. I called about N-Fab podiums, for example, and they are 14-gauge steel and weigh 65#. True rock sliders will rob you of payload but are built for purpose. As always, depends what you’re doing with your Tundy.

I'm not doing any rock sliding or aggressive offroading so not too worried about destroying anything in that regard. But I personally hate flex in components like these. I personally won't buy a set that uses the single vertical mounts due to the lack of lateral support in the event I do bump something. I may have to compromise on the bolt on aspect of the board itself, but it will have to be to something like a C channel support.

I called Amp this week and they could not even give me a date of when they will come out with a power step. They said maybe next year. Go Rhino has a product E1 I think they call it. It’s like $2k. Install is probably beyond what I want to tackle so would have to have a shop do it. Probably another $500. I was hoping to go with power boards because they deploy lower so my very old dad could have a chance of getting in the truck with me but the extra cost may prevent me from doing that. Will probably end up going with the TRD I guess.

I recently installed a set of the Go Rhino RB20s (Slim) over the weekend. Straight forward install and plenty of room for your feet (I am size 11 too if that helps give a better frame of reference) to get in and out. I do not plan on doing any rock climbing so these should do just fine. Pics attached for reference.

Will the AMP or OEM power running boards work on a 2022 Limited?

I am not sure if you can get a limited with OEM Power running boards or not, but I would guess you can. Dealer cannot install them at this time. Amp does not have an offering for this yet. The only ones I have found are Go Rhino E1. Aries has one that drops down and I like the design but they do not have brackets for the Tundra yet. They said maybe two more months.

I have a 2023 Limited now. Trying to figure out if OEM power take-offs from another 2022 will work.

This is exactly what I was looking for! Thanks for the picture.

For those of you on the fence about these things, I just chatted with the folks at real truck, and they were able to know off another $40 the RB20s for me, and they already have a sale going on. They said they would match any sales that may happen for thanksgiving as well. Figured I'd get them ordered before the black Friday rush.
The price before tax for the brackets and the running board was $516.31 with free shipping. I'll post pictured after installation.
Thanks for that video, it looks like it'll be really helpful when it comes time to install.

Are these the Dominator Xtreme D6 Side Steps with Mounting Brackets?
Are they really strong enough to serve as sliders?
    thanks

No, absolutely not. They are fine for a step, but will not hold up to any real use as a slider. For the money, they are fine, but I wouldn’t personally consider them high quality. They are what they are at a price point. And I have them on my truck so it isn’t a subjective opinion.

Would you happen to know if they take away any ground clearance? I'm debating between these, the TRD OEM and the Toyota automatic running boards. I don't do rock crawling, but do off road in Idaho trails and hitting something at slow speed is a possibility. Just trying to keep ground clearance good and still a functional running board to step on.
    Thanks for any thoughts.

I've got them on order but neither my truck nor the boards have arrived yet. This is like being a kid and waiting for Christmas day to finally get here.

Rough Country AL2’s. I had the 5” ovals from RC first, but they hung out too far.

Here is a pic from above.

    And a pic from below.

I was considering the TRD Steps as well, but I believe the supports stick down below the step although I can't say for sure. The other reason I personally didn't go with them is because I find that mud is nearly impossible to get out of the pores of the bedliner finish so you end up with a stained look after a while and you can never get them clean.

As to the factory drop downs, I think the issue is going to be the connectors. I am waiting for the aftermarket AMP steps where I know I will get the controller, etc to make them work. In the end , probably easier than trying to backfit the factory ones if your truck didn't come with them. This was the reason I went with the D6's for now. Pretty cheap and will do the job for now. PM @SantanaRealtruck and get a price. He beat anything I could find on them.

Clearance to bottom of the step is almost exactly 13 inches. Even at low speeds I wouldn't expect them to hold up to much actual interaction with rocks, but it would probably at least keep from damaging the bottom of the doors, even it it means the steps bending some.

With all of that said, I like the look and am happy with them for the price I paid. It's all about expectations.
