OEM Predator steps are easily the best looking IMO, but I hear they're taller than most others, so may not be as good of an option for short people and kids.

I have the TRD running boards.... I absolutely love them but i am finding that they catch all "types of road lint" due to it being coated in spray bed liner. Just FYI. I was the truck about once a week to every two weeks so it hasn't been a deal breaker.

the most unfunctional steps ever made, I HATE predator style steps. No real room, you miss them all the time getting out, they get your pants dirty constantly, the pack full of mud then in winter pack full of ice/ snow

I haven’t had a single one of those issues. Lol
But I don’t take my truck in mud and I’ve seen snow twice in my entire life in Louisiana lmao.

On my 2019 Tacoma TRD Pro I replaced the Predator steps for sliders after catching one of the steps on a rock -- Predators are not recommended for wandering in the woods.

    upload_2022-7-17_14-39-1.jpg

I think someone already mentioned it, but sliders are made for sliding on things like rocks, without damaging your vehicle. With a bump out, they can also be used as a pivot point. Steps, not so much because of both construction and mounting. On the Tacoma, the sliders could also be used as a jack point since they were attached to the frame. I don't know if the Tundra is too heavy for that (using sliders) but I definitely do not plan on using my steps in that manner.

OEM… I don’t like running boards or steps in general but my wife will complain until blue in the face.
I initially took them off but put them back on after swapping to 35s. I also have the Westcott 2/1 coming so I just went ahead and gave in. At some point I might…might cave and buy the AMP powersteps, but really dont want to pay a premium for something I don’t want to start with. It would only be for wife and kids and the occasional courtesy to other passengers.

Even then they are solid for the occasional smash. I hit mine a ton over the years and only dinged the boards a few times

I went with Raptor SSR running boards. Wanted some which fit up tight to cab with no room for foot/shoe to slide under and scrape top of foot/shoe.

How? Did you just call and ask for these? Ordered some RB20’s wish I would’ve seen these first, they look great, congrats!

My vote for steps would be:

    AMP for normal daily use.

Westcotts for overall cool(and super useful if you bounce around like that).

TRD for the style and also just flat out cool.

RB20’s for cost, availability and since they’re 7 1/2” wide hoping they have a similar footprint to the AMP’s which I loved.

Nah, ordered online and then I live 40mins away so when they were made went down there and had them install it to keep it simple.

But I just noticed there 3rd gen tundra sliders aren’t on there yet, I thought they were an option for you guys but guess not yet. So scratch this path unless you call and ask for the time line on them as I know they are being made just don’t know how much longer.

Can you take a low picture to see how far down the brackets hang?
For example like below, or maybe a bit lower to get a better angle on how low they hang

    Here you go.
The brackets do not hang down underneath, they connect on the back side to steel inserts. It is a measured 12" from deck to running board on a 2022 Limited TRD OR.IMG_0610.jpg IMG_0611.jpg

You're welcome. Your timing was good - the wife had just pulled out of the driveway so I had room to maneuver.

Question for those who have the RB20 slimline, is there ample room to use as everyday steps or do you wish you'd got the full size step?

I have the factory steps on mine. I like them for the most part. They are narrower than the previous gen steps tho. Seem to sit up higher and tucked in more.

I do not like the preditor style steps at all.
