AVS is the shocks, so when you change the shocks with the lift install, you have deleted AVS. If your lift is small and the stock shocks remain, AVS remains. AVS is a computer that adjusts the dampening within the shocks, based off the drivers selection. Comfort will soften them for a smooth ride, Sport+ will harden them for a harsher ride.

I have AVS and it bottoms out only when in comfort mode, and even then it's rare. You have to hit a pretty big dip for it to happen, at least in what I have experienced in a year, but it will touch down randomly. It's not a harsh jar when it happens , but you will notice it Depends on your roadways. Personally if you plan to leave it stock height, get the AVS. You will love it

ON a side note my sister in law owns a new Mercedes GLS SUV, that thing bottoms out the shocks on a speed bump at the mall.
