4 years Army. 1994 - 1998 at Fort Bragg, NC. Joined the Army out of high school in Atlanta, GA to see the world...went to North Carolina.

Miss it all the time and wish I had stayed longer, but can't complain with the way life has worked out; and that GI Bill was the best investment I have ever made!

EMT-B for small ambulance in BFE. Usually responded and did transport. Major issues we stayed until Med-1 relieved us or transported to there location(halfway point) to be transported to city hospital and transported with EMT-I/EMT-P personnel.

I have sense let that lapse as I am a full time RN now.

I was there from 96-97, re-upped and went back to Panama. Bragg was my hardship tour, did 10 months there. Where were you at?

Lots of respect for .MIL and first responders. Father in law, two brothers in law, Uncle and two direct reports are former army. Grandfather was a WWII Marine.

But it’s a funny thing this thread was bumped today - the wife and I got pulled out of the ocean by fire department off the Georgia coast this morning. A container ship’s wake caused a 5’ wave on otherwise calm seas at dawn. The wife and I were facing inland taking a photo. We both got taken off the beach and washed out in a strong outgoing tide, fully clothed. Within minutes we were 600 yds offshore and headed out. Luckily people on the beach saw it and called for help. 30 minutes later we were on board a Fire Dept seadoo and headed to shore. Very appreciative of local first responders at the moment.

    Funny thing that I remember.
I had about 9 days on my first boat. The next day we were going out for a bit just for some Midshipmen. The afternoon on that 9th day, I heard over the 1MC "The reactor is critical."
Never heard that before and I went into "WTF" mode for a minute until someone explained it.

Yeah, “critical” just means “it’s powering itself”. It sounds awful, but it actually means everything is fine. All of that reactor terminology was written by dirty old men; the first time you start up a new reactor, you “deflower” it...LMAO

Yeah I MEB'ed out after 7 years. I was in the WTC for about a year at Fort Hood after getting back from my 2nd deployment. Not something I really wanted to do, but it was time to start something new. It took me since 2011 to really get back on my feet after the surgeries.
