LEOs have the most poll votes here so far. I know there are a lot more LEO's, and military guys /gals here too. It's hard to cover everyone here that protects & serves "all of us" in some capacity.

No new dog for me. You get way too attached and I'd have to turn the new dog over to another handler when I retire.

    Can't do it.

I don't know how you guys do the submarines. I just got to see a few submarines up close at Newport News Ship Building while I was there on a business trip. They are building a few Virginia class subs but I believe only one had a name (USS Washington). They are freaking huge. I couldn't imagine going out to sea on one and potentially not seeing daylight for 6 months. You sir are a much bigger man than me. Thank you for your service!

I worked a SRA on the Finback, probably around 93 or so. Can't remember if it was in the yard or in the floater at NOB. When I was at NNS we did 17 SRAs back to back, with a few concurrent. Part of the reason I'm on BP meds today.

You need to understand that a lot of the non military here have absolutely no clue what you are talking about. NNS=Newport News Ship building yard. USS Finback, submarines, SS-230 (1941), SSN-670 (1968). NOB= USN Norfolk, VA.

My older brother, Mark, (still alive) was USMC 4 man fire team in 68 to 70. (M60, 3 AR's and a radio) Still alive, and still normal, even though he was only 18 when he enlisted. No doubt saw bad shit. Did bad shit. The one's who did don't say too much about it. He used to bitch that his fire team would get dropped off for weeks in the middle of nowhere, and the Army guys would get dropped off for a day or two and then get Helo'd out. I was a USMC Air Winger. Calibration, 6492 MOS "calibration" and 6493 secondary MOS "repair". Still shot expert every year. Series Honor man. Zero combat. Helped Marine jets get to target to provide the necessary ground support which I know saved grunt lives. All is good. We all had our part. Nam Vet and Firefighter? Way cool. Thank you....... You're welcome. Glad your brother came home and that you didn't have to see combat. I saw combat in Nam during the 67-68 TET Offensive. Thank you for your honorable service, and tell your brother "welcome home" from a fellow Vietnam Nam vet. Semper Fi.

TET had to suck. Total surprise. We still kicked ass, but had to suck. We don't attack enemies during Xmas/News Years. Especially our enemies New Year. They are celebrating of course!! My brother was in An Hoa, AZ Territory. Free fire zone stuff. Near Ho Chi Minh trail. Must of been a fun time. not.
Think I'll give my brother a call tomorrow.:infantry::oldglory:

27 years. Sheesh. You have probably seen everything. At least everything most of us here don't want to deal with EVER, unless put in that situation. A situation that you volunteered to do on a daily basis for 27 years and counting. Cool.
