Maybe Ford was inspired by the F111 ejection system.

    I had a 2013 F150. I now have a 2005 Tundra.

I'll keep my 14 year old Tundra. It's more reliable than my Ford ever was.

My truck stands out from the big three. I love that. My truck is the only full sized pickup that 100 % of them are built in America. I love that. My 2008 SR5 has 5.7 v8 ,leather, six disc 9 speaker JBL stereo that sounds great, electric roll down rear window,4x4, awesome paint job, that’s all I need. Gas mileage is poor 12 mpg. This is all I need. Twelve months of trouble free so far w 100k. Maybe at the auto show there will be something new? Peace. D https://naias.com/EEE0B0F3-CB37-427F-9F91-E5EA7A22CBE9.jpg

Yeah having a vehicle for a year isn't a good indicator. Fords are engineered to fail the day after factory warranty

And when they do, the average F-150 buyer will run right out and get another one!o_O:D

care to elaborate on that? factory remote start, factory flood/ditch lights that dont look like an after thought, being able to choose rear end ratios, drive train, and several engine options. On top of the tech that beats out tundra by a mile. That's just off the top of my head, there are a lot more. To simply say "oh its crap!", leads me to believe you may have not shopped/researched the market recently, this isnt 2007, or 2015 for that matter. There is a reason nearly ten times (10x) more F-Series are sold in a year...

Have owned them dating back to 1998, one with over 220k, no significant repairs or failures. Work trucks being beat on. The KR isnt the first, wont be the last. The Tundra will be the last Toyota pickup though, only because every other light truck out there offers so much more.

unfortunately im afraid what's to come for Tundra will be forced induction v6, which will totally ruin it for most of us.

The OP really needs to think hard about coming to toyota based on what is on the market today. And waiting for the next tundra, god knows when, could be all up to date, but may have a less robust engine.

Lol just like EcoBoost ruined it for most ford guys? Every ford guy I know loves their ecoboost. Try again.

Also, ive had a couple f150s. Your 1998 must be the only one to make it to 220k. Let alone 220k without issues ( which is less than half the expected life of a tundra) it's cool you like shit brands. We get that. Go circle jerk them in the ford forums instead of here.

Btw let me know how the crap ranch holds up in 5 years. I'm interested to know if all of the junk gadgets still work haha

The reason ford sells more trucks is they are cheap garbage and most people lease them for 3 years before the landfill

Riiiight, you keep believing there bud. You seem to know everything. I’m just here stating facts. Tundra may be reliable and drama free, but to say it’s “top dog” is laughable.

Reliable and drama free make it top dog in my books. I don't need or want whiz bang features at the expense of reliability.

I had a 2003 ranger xlt 4x4. It was bulletproof for 156,000. I had a 2011 GMC Sierra Denali for almost 4 years with no issues. Most of this debate is anecdotal. Buy and Drive what you like. Save the trolling for 3rd gen Tacoma World. :rofl:These Tundras aren't even close to having the issues and complaints that truck has.

B707 you are laughable. Your posts are condescending and autocratic.

    You pretend to know everything.

You applaud and defend the Big 3 Trucks regularly. Go buy one and move on. Especially from here.

You are a silly troll. Pilot? Yawn.

    ^ settle down there.
I definitely don’t know much. However, having shopped F series (& GM) 3 years after buying my 2015 was a huge eye opener. jmo. Getting back to OP, it’s very difficult to recommend or refer this truck to any perspective buyer. Besides “it hasn’t broken down”. I would expect that from any vehicle that is relatively new.

I give tundra credit where it’s due but there are vast areas where it’s fallen far behind. We can’t turn a blind eye to that.

I don’t buy into “this is mine, so it’s the best” mentally. I try to be more pragmatic.

    keep beating your chest.

Careful what you wish for, indeed. I was in the market for a new truck several years ago, I was about to get a 2015 Tacoma but wanted to hold out for the 2016/Gen 3. So I bought a Gen 3 Taco. Now I'm in a Tundra. Needless to say I'm not going anywhere near a redesigned Tundra until after a few years of customer reviews have come in. I don't have any faith in Toyota to make a truck superior to what I'm in now after my experience with the Taco.

The 3rd gen Tacoma was a HUGE disappointment for power and performance without revving that thing to the moon.
I'm sure the 3rd gen Tacoma fail helped boost their Tundra sales though.

I recently sold my 2017 Pro and picked up a mint 2013 F150 XLT with 15k miles for about half the cost. Why you ask? I was very disappointed in the lack of options on the Tundra, but still carried a premium price tag. It is basically a bottom of the barrel SR5 with fancy shocks and a cool paint job, yet I paid full MSRP. Now I am still a yuge toyota fan as I owned my 2nd gen Tundra for 10 years prior to the Pro, I still own a first gen Tacoma, and my wife drives a Sienna. Will I be back in a Tundra at some point? Probably. Do I like the Ford? Most definitely Yes. The technology is four times that of my Pro, the seats are FAR more comfortable and guess what? I actually have a factory electronic locking differential. If and when the Tundra is fully redesigned I'll take a good hard look, but until then I am perfectly content in the Ford. Oh yeah, obviously I purchased an extended warranty, because.... well, Ford:D

As someone who just traded in an F150 5.0 for a 2019 Tundra Plat I think my comments should be pretty valid.

2013 FX2 5.0 loaded with appearance package blah blah at 5 years old and 69k. It had bad exhaust valves. A couple G’s in parts alone and it’s a known issue even in 2018/2019 models including mustangs. We didn’t tow, longest continuous drive was no longer than 2.5 hours over the years. Never averaged more than 16.8 mpg. A $54k (yes before rebates) truck couldn’t last until it was paid off literally doing compression and leak down testing as payment 60 went in the mailbox. Ridiculous.

We didn’t buy a Tundra in 2013 because we felt the interior/exterior and options were lacking vs the Fords at the time. In 2019 no way is that still applicable but we also wouldn’t have needed to buy another truck 5 years later....hindsight being blinded by bells and whistles. NOT AGAIN! Our platinum has every single creature comfort and tech feature a comparable f150 would have if we went Ford again. The interior meets our needs for platinum trim levels. The leather easily rivals the wife’s Lexus especially the quilted look. Somehow we have more interior leg room with the crewmax bs screw. The drivetrain feels great. MPG is 1mpg lower than our Ford. The LED headlights are great. We don’t care about massive touch screens, bigger digital gauges, cylinder deactivation, ecoboost, a million different packages and options etc etc.

We wanted a v8 reliable truck with the creature comforts we wanted to pay for while still being a full-size truck. Fit both kids and their crap inside etc etc. Not giving any more tax dollars to GM and their rubber coated interiors. The titan is Fugly, and would NEVER own anything FCA. Came down to another Ford, fool me twice, or Toyota. The Tundra met every need/want we had.

We got it at invoice before the trade on the F150 and we added an extended bumper/bumper-warranty because the Ford was still in the back of our mind. And the Tundra came with a lifetime powertrain warranty too. Only negative we have is the JBL stereo really does suck. But this has always been our experience with toy/lex vehicles over the years.

Might be fine to lease a big 3, but I bought my Tundra for long term ownership, most reliable of the bunch. Do I wish it had a bit more payload and mpg, sure. Heated steering wheel, buttonless entry and button start I’d give or take. BUT it’s the best fit for most of my check boxes which might not be the same for you, just gotta do the homework to figure out what’s best for YOU.

The pro is a bit overpriced for what you get. Even though I think it’s an awesome looking truck. But if you would’ve just got a comparable SR5 you would’ve paid much less. But of course you would’ve had to upgrade a few things to get it up to your liking. The downside to what you just did was losing any resale value. That Ford will be worthless in five years LOL. But I bet you got a lot for your Toyota trade-in? Hopefully that Ford doesn’t let you down as they have let me down in the past. Good luck. Definitely glad you got the warranty.

My 2006 F150 that I bought new, then at year 8 & 78,000 well cared for miles shot a spark plug out of the cylinder head like shit through a goose. It was in pristine condition at the time. A true garage queen. The pic below is at year 8 just before I traded it.

No gadgetry, tech gimmicks or otherwise would compel me to consider another F150.

Add shop time to the list. I have been pulling boats for 30 years and know how to back a boat in to a tight spot so trailer backing is one option I don't need. All those electronic gizmos add cost and potential problems. I owned Fords for 25 years. Many F150s, couple of Broncos, and a Sportrac. Sportrac was best of bunch. Never bought a Ford that did not have warranty work done.

My 2001 5.4 did that on a rainy cold Xmas eve and left my ex and kids stranded an hour from where I was. Ruined the evening for me. That 2001 was the biggest pile of dung I ever owned.
