I’m wondering if I need to hurry up and get a deal then. I know this sounds dumb but I don’t want dealers to not have any tundras available.

That's a valid concern. There are areas that usually have loads of them on the lot that are down to a handful. If you can find one with the options you want, I'd pull the trigger. Either way, it doesn't hurt to start shopping now.

They all look good after lift and wheels. Super White is the fastest color, but it’s not for everyone. A hood scoop adds 15 HP, and there is no end to the ways you can spend money on these trucks. Ask me how I know.

The TRD Sport package is a nice addition to the SR5.

When I was looking to trade in my Tacoma last month the dealer near me only had 4 tundras on the lot and the sales people wouldn't even entertain the idea of negotiating prices below MSRP because of their limited stock and how quick they were selling trucks.

I can tell you one thing.....dealers here have raised prices due to high sales volume. I had several local dealers tell me that the 20's will not drop in price towards the end of the year. Just get one now and get used to 13 mpgs or less. Dealers here are out of inventory.

I think so. Mine is a 2019 and the Sport Package came with Navigation similar to my wife's Highlander. Also has the hood scoop and color matched bumpers. I have not looked to see how that package was applied to a 2020 but imagine not much different except for Android Auto.

I ended up finding a used 2019 1794 TRD offroad with 12K miles for $40K while the dealer wanted 55K for their 2020. The dealer did end up selling that truck like 2 days later so maybe they got their price.

Yeah it's tough. Look at your local dealer sites and see if they have an e-price or internet price quote option. You will have to mention that price to them when you inquire bc they definitely wont tell you about it when you call or go in.

@Tundraproud20 do you plan to tow? If so, research your payload on each individual truck you consider. Tundras are low on payload.

I’m looking specifically for a SR5 with center console and the LED headlights. But I’ve noticed that package sometimes comes with the push start which I hate cause I believe it messes with reliability. Maybe I’m wrong on that?

I’m thinking I will end up paying MSRP because I am noticing low inventory and normal or even high sales demand but I will stay confident!

No change in reliability on the button vs key. The key essentially pushes a button and it auto cranks until it starts on the modern keyed Tundras.

Shop outside your area if you can afford to travel to get the truck. If you can save a few grand it might be worth a day or two.

Yes that sounds like a good idea. I’ll look up to 500 mile radius. I’ve been looking on cargurus

Generally speaking end of august through October, and sometimes even into November is when Toyota starts trying to clear the current year to make room for the next years models. With that being said, and as others have mentioned, that may not happen this year depending on what is going on in the factories. The inventory is very low right now, again as others have mentioned, thus they may not have much to clear out.

I did just buy my TRD Off road and I got a fairly decent deal, so if I were you I would try now if you can find one you like on the lot, as I don't know that it will get any better in a month or two, or three, but I could be wrong.

It depends on your area, but I believe you have to get the TRD package to get the LED lights, but I Could be wrong.

Appreciate your knowledge! I can find a good amount of base tundras (which I like) for around 41k but I’m torn between spending like 5k more and getting a little bit more features like parking sensors or maybe a TRD sport package

I would highly recommend parking sensors and blind spot monitoring , although they’re not a “need” they sure are nice to have .

DO NOT PAY MSRP, if that were the case I would just wait it out. My MSRP was 45,600 and I paid 41,500 with a spray in bed liner included (that was the out the door price, we also have no tax here), so there are dealerships that are willing to deal. I am on the east coast, so I am unsure about California. I bought mine the beginning of June and have noticed the same dealership has sold a lot of Tundras, but they haven't gotten any more in other than the super expensive ones like the Platinums and one TRD Pro. I referred a friend there last week, and he too wanted a Tundra, and he said they would only take 2500 off the MSRP and wouldn't budge any more, so it's possible that the inventory is even lower now and they really aren't going to let them off the lot with any major discounts.

My advice to you is if you truly find a truck you like that you call a manager at the dealership ahead of time, BEFORE setting foot inside and ask what his/her lowest out the door price is. Express you do not want to waste anyones time and you want to know if they are willing to take at least 5K off MSRP. If not, I would call a couple other stealerships and see, if they all say the same thing, just be patient and wait.

Again I appreciate your time and knowledge. I’ll keep an eye out still. I will definitely try to get them to come down or atleast play the back and forth game until they realize they need my sale. I think I’m just being eager to get out of this garage GMC Sierra 2500. Not to sound ungrateful, but you get my point.

When I went it was to see a quicksand sr5, only addition was the sr5 upgrade package. They were asking 34k for it, marked down from 40k. The platinum was 41k or 42k from 49k. Not sure why, lol, but I ended up in the Pro. It wasnt as big a markdown, but I paid 49k, MSRP was 54k. Good deals all around, just wait though I see these deals every year around October.

Thing is like everyone is saying, there might not be deals to start with since inventory is very low and the tundra is still very high in demand regardless of covid. So I’m on the fence on waiting or getting one now before inventory is gone
