I agree with you. Looking for an OEM fit. Did not realize the oem boards were not available when I purchased my truck. I thought I would just add them later and went with the bed cover instead. errr. Have you had any luck with your search?

I’m not opposed to Rhino but, are they compatible with the Hybrid system?

I live in tougher - colder climates so I am holding out for dual motors, Rhino doesn’t currently offer.

    I have a ‘23 hybrid platinum.
It is compatible with the truck.

The power connection is straight to the battery (under the backseat on the drivers side)
The rhino power boards are a dual motor (per side) system.
I am very happy and impressed with them.

If I were to make one suggestion it would be to get the textured boards. They’re alittle bit more money, but the coating on the boards without the texture is pretty thin.

Interesting, I did not realize they had dual motors.

When you say texture finish, are you referring to bed liner finish they have listed on Go Rhino website?

The door magnets and slightly exposed wiring isn’t the best but my guess is overtime won’t even notice…

I haven’t seen placement in videos for the override switch.

I checked out a few videos, saw one where the led step lights were mounted just below the doors, exposed. I don’t like this look.

Correct, the bedliner finish is what I was referring to. I wish I would have gone with that.

I was in the same camp about the magnets prior to installing them. That was the main reason why I also bought the AMP boards. But honestly, I don’t even notice them and if you run the wiring right and take alittle extra time with that, it’s a non issue with noticing them.

I also didn’t like the look of the lights shown in that video. I tucked mine further under the truck and they still project a good amount of light + the light from the doors when you open them. The combination of those two light sources is plenty to illuminate the running boards and visibility

I still think the Rhino boards are total Rube Goldberg. Hoping someone figures out the OEM ones.

I'm sending back the AMP Research steps I purchased due to them telling me prior to ordering they worked on the new tundra plug n play OBD2 port then I called about the switch to cut them off told me I needed a new module kit so like a dumb@$$ I said okay and ordered the $181 kit (out door price).

Then on step 9 I stopped install and called them because I didn't want to drill a hole in the bottom of my truck and I have a Hybrid Tundra Platinum and I wasn't sure I would be able to see/ find/ use the holes for the brackets as the driver side for sure would have been under the 12V battery, Passenger side I think would have just been outside the hybrid batter location.

So during the call the guy tells me they don't have any kits for 2024 tundras I said okay but the 2022-2024 are the same truck. Then when I explained I wasn't sure I could get to the holes due to having batteries under my rear seat, he tells me NONE of their kits are compatible with the Hybrid trucks?? I was like WHY??? He said electronics, I was like WTF? So he forwarded me to another person who said yeah the HYBRID steps are in design phase not ready yet. I said okay no one could give me a clear answer on why (I assume ODB2 differences)?

So I tried to see if I could find the direct trigger wire location on truck they say go to white plug and use blue and white wire. Awesome except the plug in question on the truck has 2 blue wires and 4 white ones. I rigged up a pin wire clamp so I could go in backside of the plug and contact wires, no good the steps just went down and back up then never moved. So packed it all up waiting for return label.

Also note the $181 manual override kit was the EXACT SAME module STA6 and a plug with 3 wires and switch, could have just got the $45 switch on their site.

returning it all and ordering the Go Rhino E1's as they have two motors and available with 3 support brackets but the 2 support like AMPS are about $500 cheaper right now. And I don't have to drill any holes in my brand new truck with 562.1 miles on it.

I couldn't find any info on the drop of the predator steps and all though I don't think the Go Rhino's drop as far as the stock or AMPs its better than nothing and the stock running boards that came on the truck were awful looking and to high (I have the 3" TRD Factory installed lift kit).

Short Version, all though people get them to work on the Hybrids from what I found online, it isn't easy and calls for two holes to be drilled in the floor pan under the rear seat for the AMP version, also single motor and not much water proofing I could see.

Thanks for the feedback…certainly disappointing. I was hoping for the Amp Xtreme version which has dual motors but with all the recent feedback I may go with GoRhino.

At this point, it’s getting cold where I am, so waiting till spring now…Maybe there will be further updates, or maybe I trade-in for a 2024 platinum with OEM boards.

Installing new go rhino E1’s tonight, way easier than AMPs and dual motors, they have 20% off sale too so they are only $1499+$10 shipping, I found them at Sohi performance for $1336 but due to next day delivery I went to modern xtras in Winston Salem, talked them down to $1400+tax and got them at 8:45am from them ordered yesterday at 3pm.

weird thing is platinum has a plug in the blank spot for 3 of the 4 blanks in my switch panel?

no factory boards because I have trd off road pkg and trd 3” factory lift. But the go rhino E1 seems as good if not better than amps and cheaper, will see should finish install tomorrow after work, 93% done just drivers side magnet switch’s to do and kill switch wire routing and mounting.

at 1400 I just went for them instead of piece mill the factory ones for same price without harness.

I looked at the Go rhinos videos and they don't look to drop as much as the factory ones. Like my wife's 4runner, I tend to step over them because when I use them I have to squat more to get in. Hopefully I'll be able to wire mine up soon. I've only had them over a year. LoL

you are correct they are about 3-4” heigher than the AMPs that’s why i purchased them first but to much hassle with them. i got the Go Rhinos working great and still better than the ugly factory toyota running boards that came on the truck. and easier to get in worried about the seat plastic breaking everyone seems to have issues with.

that’s the difference in them the bracketing mechanism. the reach is further down but not as far out as the go rhinos but the motors (dual) on these look much better and slightly more weather resistant. the (single) motor on the Amp ones looked like they forgot to weather proof them no covers on either as i have seen on some advertised.

Guess time will tell if they cause any issues will hopefully have a toyota Full kit available for purchase.

FYI. weirdest thing i found that my blank for either the factory steps or trd pro light bar has a harness plug in the back of the blank. of the 4 blanks on my panel all but ONE does NOT have a plug in it??? now i’m worried as i purchase factory blank fill switches for ditch light and light bars.

Looking at the Rhinos myself, wondering if the non bed liners were that slick? Would some bedliner in a can stick to them? $300 difference between the two seems steep for a few square feet of bedliner

i went with the ones without the spray on bed liner stuff they aren’t slick at all granted hasn’t rained on them since i installed them (not my daily driver). but yes $300 for what you can do yourself with one to two rattle cans for what $20/ea or less.

i like them i wished they did a 3 position switch though instead of the old put your foot on it close door holding pressure for them to stay down during washing truck. but it’s fine.

i love them they are about 8-10” from truck interior floorboard level so works great for my vertically challenged wife (5’4”) i find them much easier and more sure footed than the factory toyota running boards (fixed) now the factory toyota electric ones are awesome and come down lower but not available with off road package and $1400 without wiring harness to get the components together. no time for that noise.

So can you confirm you truck doesn't have the harness pre wired? Just a note, I bought all my parts last year. Several months before any power options were available.

i didn’t see any plugs under the truck or under the passenger seat where people say the control module goes that we’re vacant or not plugged into something.

Only place i could see possibly prewired was the blank for the switch to turn off on or auto from factory. when i pulled the panel to install an auxiliary switch for ditch lights, of the 4 blanks i have 3 of them had a harness plugged into the blanks back side including where the switch for steps is or on a pro the light bar? what it goes to i have no idea and i wouldn’t mess with it much.

i just probed a connector under the dash with a multimeter when i tried to install the amp boards i had to find trigger wire for doors. and the next day when i got in truck to return the steps it gave me about 20 error messages and check engine light and go to dealer light. I said wow truck ran fine so i drove to local dealer and said no idea what is wrong they cleared the codes and reset and no issue after. but i will not touch any harnesses in this thing again after that scare. just my 2 cents. for the go rhino i didn’t tap into anything only run to the 12v battery positive and negative terminals.

Ok. Thanks for the info. Ya, these trucks have a wee bit more tech/tronics than my 2019. I'm comfortable with wiring, usually, hadn't gotten into this one much yet. No time. One day though.

Unfortunately, I can confirm not pre-wired. I found out the hard way. See my tale of woe in the other thread about this.

Anyone know if the AMP's will fit/work with 2024 Limited/TRD CrewMAX non-hybrid? 2023 and 2024 seem to be identical trucks but AMP support just got back to me and said the 2024 AMP models have not been released yet... then they tried to talk me into Rhino's.

Hi - where did you purchase parts from. I have a 2024 Tundra Platinum 4x4 Crewmax Hybrid 3” lift 35” tires. Would love power running Boards. I am 83 so need to have them installed. My truck is not pre-wired and does that make any difference in the parts needed?

Real Truck and many other vendors sell both Amp and GoRhino. Being 83 and having a lifted truck forget about the Rhinos. The regular Amps go significantly lower than the Rhinos but the AMP XLs probably make the most sense for you as they go lower still.

I would like to see if I can buy the OEM parts and then find a dealer who can do the install, but don’t know if truck has to be pre-wired or not. I am 6’-2” and am able to get in and out of truck. If I buy the OEM steps does the truck need to be pre-wired or not?
