Good point. I read about a procedure to reset steps if they get partially deployed with mud or snow in the 3rd gen owners manual. So they must have limiters for overload. Thanks for the diagram.

hello friends, I've been reading this forum looking for the indication of the connection cables of the amp tundra 2022 step. has anyone managed to locate them?

on the AMP website, there is no manual indicating the place to connect the starter cables of the steps.

I removed the first step and there is only one plug that goes to the main harness under the seat. I hope that the plug is already installed and is under the seat somewhere loose.

On the truck side, where does the harness go? Like is it ran into the main harness?

Passenger has an additional ground wire that goes directly to the frame.

Yes. Main Harness. See the second picture on the passenger side. Identical on the driver side

Need to confirm now what a Tundra without the steps installed, has

May be a dumb question. But did you protect the other end in your main harness?

You may need that ground wire. Mine has the ground wire but nothing else.

Legit question. We can be in hurry sometimes and we forget the most basics things. I tape every wire independently. Thank you for asking.

Have you tried installing yet @Rockgate ? Wondering if you were able to get everything needed to install or do you think you are missing wiring etc?

I've not had time to mess with it. I know there is not any wiring in my truck. I've checked where the dash switch goes, under passenger seat where the controller mounts, and where the passenger side comes through the floor. Trying to talk someone out of the step plugs but I will still need to get 3 more. And pins for them. The plugs are available from Toyota, but just the plastic, no pins. Found 1 online place that has some of the plugs but not all of them. They sell pins though.

So from the looks of all the OEM parts that Rockgate received from Toyota, that definitely covers the running boards. My dealership owes me both power running boards and power step. I will be calling dealership to get them to order the parts in, been waiting since March 1st. I only see parts for power running boards, does anyone have the power bed step part list? I'm pretty sure the power accessory switch controls both running boards and bed step. The doors switches control the running boards and the bed tailgate switch controls the bed step. Any help with power bed step part list would be greatly appreciated!

So you're probably lucky enough to have the wiring in your truck since it's an option on Platinums and 1794's. If you're dealer owes you the parts, I'm pretty sure they'll find the numbers.

I have Go Rhino's RB20 steps on my truck which I bought until the AMP are out and readily available. I also have their sport bar on the bed with lights on it. The quality is fine, the finish is fine. Nothing to write home about but also nothing bad. It is like a 7-8/10. However, both with the running boards and the sport bar they sent me the wrong hardware and the shop doing the install had extra stuff thankfully and was able to install them. They said this is a somewhat common issue with go rhino on things that are not jeeps.

I would be weary of being an early adopter of their parts for this application, especially something a bit more intricate like powered running boards. Just my 2c with the limited experience I have with them.

Still nothing as of yet. Been busy with work. I do have all the connectors now and some pins.

Your truck may already have wiring for them. I'd love to check a Platinum or 1794 without them to see.

Under the passenger front seat. Should be where the ECU for them is mounted. Possibly 2 plugs , maybe under the carpet where the split seam is. Under each front seat, there is a rubber grommet for wires to pass through. See if it's just a single wire or a small harness. On the left of the dash where all the switches are. See if there is a loose plug, possibly just clipped to the back of the hole cover garnish.

I pick up my platinum this week. I will see if I can look when weather permits. Where does the module you purchased fit in with the harness?

Looked under driver and passenger side of truck, found blank rubber EPDM grommet underneath driver seat, no wires. Under passenger seat, found EPDM rubber grommet with ground wire just like your picture you posted. Doesn’t look good for me that the Platinum trim came prewired for these Power running boards. Looked under passenger seat to find the ground wire that comes through the floorboard just goes straight into passenger wiring harness underneath the foot trim. See pics and included wiring harness part numbers on both sides of truck to see if you have the same harness. C40 is driver side, G50 is passenger side. I did not see any spare blank plugs under the passenger seat to be able to connect up the pwr running board motor. I have not looked behind driver side switch cluster to see if there is a prewired plug for the pwr switch to connect. Will look at that soon. Also, I have the JBL sound system, so there is black plastic cover plate underneath driver seat, so not able to see if i have any unused wiring harness plugs for motor without removing driver seat. If any one else has done this, please let us know if blank plug(s) are already prewired for pwr running boards. I am starting to think that Toyota has gone super cheap and not provided the spare/open wiring plugs to add these Pwr running boards on any of their models. I guess that’s what you get with buying 1st year models, better to wait 2 to 3 years for manufacturer to work out all the kinks of manufacturing a complex vehicle.

    None yet, just bought 9/30/23
Any updates? This thread just kind of died. I have 23 Platinum, and am trying to get some OEM power running boards. Not opposed to aftermarket in principle, but I hate the necessity of the magnetic door sensors and the switch that sticks on the bottom of the steering wheel with double sided tape. I really want it to look factory.

    I have a 23 platinum also.
I bought both the Amp power boards and Go Rhino’s. I tried installing the Amp’s on Saturday. It took all day and they ended up not working.
I got power to the harness, but splicing in the DCM to the port (white/blue) wires is where I had trouble.
I uninstalled them and boxed them back up.

I installed the GoRhino E1’s today, and I wish I would of gone with them from the start. The build quality is better, installation was easier, they look great.

Like you, I didn’t want the magnet system. But after installing the kit, I don’t even notice the magnets and they work exactly how they should.

Let me know if you have any questions.

There’s no drilling or alterations required to install the go rhinos, correct? I’m probably just doing the trd boards but am curious about these.

Attached are some quick pictures I took of the magnets. The switch I routed and it ended up by my hybrid battery. I thought it was a decent spot for it.

I did drill 2 holes underneath to route the wires from the passenger side up and through (passed them along through the storage/battery compartment) and then a hole on the driver side rear to pass them back down for the driver side hook ups.

I can take pictures of that if you want to see them.
