That’s not natural inflation, it’s additional federal gas tax but they want you to think it’s Exxon sticking it to you when they aren’t!

I saw some of that last year, but this year seems worse

It is, at least last May you could still find most models on showroom floors. This year there is almost nothing on the showroom floors. My local dealer was out of all 2021 ATVs in March. All of their 2021 dirt bikes are essentially gone (except for certain models) and the 2022 shipments slated to arrive in July/Aug already have at least 1/2 of their huge allotment with down payments.

I always question the people who use that sticker around here. Missouri has no natural source of salt. our achilles heel.

I assume these people are squeezing in a week long vacation once a year or maybe twice. It takes around 13-14 hours to get to FL beaches from here. It seems like a very sad life.

There is a new one. It is the same font but it says lake life. That makes way more since. We have a lot of lakes.

When I first saw that sticker I thought it was for people that go out to our beautiful west desert. And then I saw it on a car and decided they weren't going to the same "salt" that I go to.

Granted I'm one hill away from the actual "salt flats" in this picture. It still starts getting really salty and flatty right about here. You can see the flats and my favorite silt highway road just to the right.

Your truck needs a salt life sticker.

We are planning a trip out to your state hopefully next fall. We are going to see Pando and hopefully check out Moab.

Lots of those 'salt life' stickers on cars in KC. I agree, it does seem like a sad life. I've seen a few 'lake life' ones also, that makes more sense but also seems even a little sadder lol, like adults playing in a muddy puddle.

Those Salt Life people are all over NC. Funny I never see any of them when I ferry out to Cape Lookout.

Looks like a good time. I've never been to pando exactly. I've been around the area, but never anywhere that I should have known "this is pando". Pretty interesting stuff though. There are a bunch of awesome areas around the fish lake national park. I don't even know that I've been to fish lake itself, but I've been around it a bit.

One of my favorite areas is capitol reef and seeing Caineville. If that's anywhere near your trip (like it happens to be on the way) I'd check it out. It's nothing like Moab though. Moab is awesome and I hope to get back there one day. It's been way too long.

Utah is like any of the western states. So much to see and most of it isn't what we're known for. Looks like your route should take you by some of the best of what America has to offer. Keep us all posted. Should be a great read at least.

You should look up the Wendover airport before you go. There's some cool/ lesser known history there.

I need to know more about this. I have traveled extensively in the eastern half of the country, lots all over Colorado and to Moab twice, but that’s about it in the western states (except for work trips to Texas, Montana, and Oregon). What are good resources for exploring Utah and the other states?

After you get south of farm country the mud pretty much stops. Lake of the Ozarks is muddy and it will probably give you an STD.
I will look it up. Do you have any suggestions on a good time of year to be out there? This is 15 months out or so and the dates are flexible. All I care about is that school is back in session.

If you want to touch the salt flats then I'd suggest late summer or early fall. If you want to see the the speed trials then that would be September I believe. I've been down near Moab as late as November and it can be just fine or you can hit a storm and it would be bad. I also don't know that I'd be wanting to tow through eastern Utah and through Colorado too far into the winter. No school break crowds and decent weather sounds like September/October to me. It's still cold, but it's cold at night in many places anyway.
Snow in October isn't unheard even if it hasn't happened much in the last few years. Not that I recall anyway. September is still going to be plenty warm during the day in the west desert so be ready for that too. If you plan to go on the salt just make sure you look up the rules and such. That stuff is like religion. At least the actual Bonneville is. There are salt flats around the whole area that are wide open to driving and camp fires and dumb people getting extremely stuck.

Not sure about sources. I just heard about everywhere from my parents and their coworkers/ friends. I'll try to find the video, but there was a great Idaho video that showed a bunch of cool places that I either haven't been or haven't heard of. I would assume something like that exists for other states. I'd be really surprised if Utah didn't have one too.

Sr5 is just a trim level. Mine is an sr5 AC. Toyota calls it a double cab on ours, and oddly the extend cab newer ones.

Some interesting things there. Faux wood appliques. Speaker pods in the kick panels. Trans temp gauge. Haven't seen those floating around. Also, custom sunroof? in an AC? Truck is clean as hell and low mileage. $30k for an AC with a body lift? NOT happening.
