If you’re mad at me then it’s because you do it wrong!!

I’ve been seeing more and more people incorrectly place the $ on the back of the sequence of numbers when listing the monetary value or price of something.

    IE.... 250$

People....this is fundamentally wrong here in the United States of Dysfunctionality

    $250 is correct

Please explain why this is happening. And, if you’re not aware of where to place it then please list your high school graduation date, the school system you grew up in, or your country if you’re not locally grown in the US

@Law323 knows what I’m talkin’ bout

    That is all...

Could you tell me why it's fundamentally wrong?

Because it’s in the wrong place here in ‘Murica

If you’re in another country you get a pass

“ In English, the dollar sign is placed before the amount, so the correct order is $20, as others have noted. However, when you see people using 20$, it's likely they're being influenced by a few different things: Many other countries (and the Canadian province of Quebec) put the currency symbol after the amount.“

i also think it's because more and more people type how they talk... two hundred and fifty dollars.... dollars comes after the number.

Don't get me wrong, people writing how they talk infuriates me... granted, on social media and such, i'll give people a reluctant pass, professionally though, a whole other story.

    Agreed!!

The problem with where we’ve reached as a society is that there are fewer and fewer basic skills being taught in schools. Penmanship and legibility is becoming a thing of the past, along with grammar, the ability to spell, and to write complete sentences.

If I get a winch on my 2WD, can I overland with the BASTRDs and SGU?!
I've missed you, Almaboy @Eclipsed & Floating!!

(But my aim is improving :quickdraw:)

Hey, can I pile on here? What's the deal with people abbreviating vehicle years by placing the apostrophe after the shortened digits (2017 is not abbreviated 17', yet I see it on this forum frequently.)

It's '17, people. Rule: the apostrophe stands in place of the missing digits....

We do it right, $100. THEY are the ones doing it wrong. Just saying.

Quebec....they place the $ after the number. Only Quebecer's do it, so if you do it...you're a Quebecer. If you can live with yourself knowing that and continue to do it, that's on you.

    A) they shouldn't. in England the symbol should precede the numbers as it does here
    B) steady on the wankers... unless you mean it... most yanks have no clue what it means
