450 a month still works out to .45 cents a mile to drive it. My 14 tundra will probably have around 150k miles on it in 2 years and I could probably still sell it for 20k. That’s about .20 cents a mile in depreciation to drive it.

Yea but 150k in 2 years isn’t normal or average.

Took my daughters Camry into Toyota Service Dept today and the Manager I always deal with told me he heard the next gen Tundra should be 2021! He said 2020 the only big thing is an Eco Boost engine addition!

I also asked if the Sequoia will see a major change, he said no being Toyota doesn't sell the quantity to justify it!

Did he say if there would still be a V8 option? I am still not sold on the Twin Turbo V6 Idea.

Eco Boost means Turbos. Either single, double or twin scroll.

That changes the size of the engine (V6) or I4 for fuel savings but increased torque and HP.

The only issue with turbo engines is the limited life span due to higher temps.

Seems like Toyota is moving into the turbo area for trucks to be competitive.

Yeah that and my friend has a 17 3.5 Ecoboost and he says it eats gas. He told me he gets 16.5 mpgs mixed and around 7 mpgs towing his 6k camper. Twin Turbos just doesn't seem worth it considering Ram and GM are getting better with their V8s. I am sure Toyota can squeeze more MPG and Power with their V8. The 5.7L is awesome for me but I will never say no to more power. :)

EDIT: I do not mind my trucks FE figures I didn't really buy it for Fuel economy but it seems to be what people are always complaining about so that is why I mentioned it above.

Yes, you are correct, real life MPG shows EcoBoost engines are not to save fuel but to boost low and mid range power using turbos.
I still think naturally aspirated engines are the best for long life and less maintenance costs.

Hoping Toyota does not switch over to Ecoboost type engines that will have more issues but rather something that RAM does - mild hybrid eTorque mated to their naturally aspirated V8 coupled with a 8 or 10 speed tranny...

Currently if you look at the full size truck arena, Toyota is on the bottom because they have the archaic 6 speed tranny and lowest MPG.

I am currently on the fence between getting a '18 Tundra or '19 Ram 1500 eTorque Hemi.....

Overall just too much shit to break. That's why I am happy with the tundra. Keep it simple. It works! Just my opinion of course.
