I so I have a 2003 Toyota tundra with a 3.4l v6. I bought some tires from offer up they are from a 2023 Toyota tundra right now I have the stock steel wheels and I took it to a tire shop to get the new wheels mounted and they wouldn’t fit. Are spacers my best bet?

Resell on CL; buy wheels that are known to fit. As it is, the 2023 wheels won't work without custom spacers because the hub bore is totally different (Edit: Smaller, which wouldn't allow the wheel to fit over, much less center properly with our 106mm hubs). The shop should've told you that. If not, a quick well-formatted search on this forum would have. I'm positive that info is in the info-dumpo sticky, under the wheels section, with a potential solution that is $$$: https://www.tundras.com/threads/so-you-wanna-buy-just-bought-a-1st-gen-tundra-eh.115928/

You're looking at about $350-400 for spacers that will adapt for the hub bore and get the wheels out. I don't see why any rational person would make the investment, but you do you.

Second the 'buy the right wheels the first time'. Check for compatible rims first - Tons of 4Runner wheels out there. Always ask what they came off of, not what the seller thinks they fit. Summary:
    Center Bore: 106.1 mm
    PCD: 6x139.7 (6x5.5)
    Thread Size: M12 x 1.5
    7.5Jx17 ET15
