Going to go back to 18's in place of my 20's. Was thinking on a set of Methods with BFG K02's but open to other set ups. 285/70/18? Also I can only do a level or I won't fit in the garage, gets cold in Wisconsin so that's a must. Any suggestions are welcome! I'll snoop on some builds and make the call Saturday. Thanks in advance for the help!

The smallest size you were considering? Ha ha. I've got the same tire. 34.5" is what Cooper claims. I really like 'em. I've got a couple of rubbing issues, The right forward liner and maybe the left cab mount. Just got my roof "dried in" this evening so maybe this weekend I can take a look at the issue.

Yeah, it was either 34.2 or 34.6 but this tire supposedly runs a little big. Hopefully I can get away without a CMC. Otherwise I might as well have gone bigger. We'll see on Saturday. And what's going on with your roof?

Not the truck roof, it's fine. I'm building out the last third of my house. Finally get the master bdrm and office. I think your really gonna like the Coopers. I've got something like a 3/1 lift.

How about Goodyear MTRs with Kevlar?

Hands down one of the best tires out there right now. It's quiet, has great grip Offroad, has high load ratings for towing, and it's even good enough to race King of the Hammers.

Nice. Must feel good almost getting your house back. Yeah I just hope I don't run into any problems. Atleast the lift got here undamaged.

They don't make KO2's in 285/70-18, the only tires I know of in that size are Nitto Exo Grapplers or Terra Grappler G2s.

My vote is for Nitto Exo Grapplers in a 285/70R-18 wrapped around stock wheels. I've had no rubbing problems with this wheel and tire assembly with Fox coilovers set to 2.5" and stock leaf springs. These tires: do great off-road, aren't loud (until you go above 70), are rated for severe snow use, and handle well on road. I like stock wheels because they're: forged, cheap to find used, and keep the tires tucked in the wheel wells (my paint is already messed up enough). I had a set of LT265/70R-18 BFG KO2s for a while but the treadwear was just terrible. After 13,000 miles one of them was down to 5/32nds from 15/32s. The BFGs were also smaller than advertised.

I remember that when I was shopping for my tires, Nitto Trail Grappler is the tallest in the 295/70/18 size group. But Cooper (both MAXX and STT Pro) tires are the widest. It may be the width of the tires that may give you problems with rubbing.

Computeruser, I think it's the 17 inch TRD wheels that are forged. I don't believe the other Toyota wheels are forged.

Your truck looks great. I just got a set of DuraTrac for my wife's Nissan NV van. Love those tires. I wanted them for my Tundra, but they didn't have the size I needed.

I ran them on my Titan PRO4X for all but about 10K of it's 135K. They got too loud for me at about 35-40K but still had plenty of street tread left.

I have Nitto Trail Grappler on my Tundra now and the little 'humming' doesn't bother me. In comparison, my wife's Nissan van with DuraTrac is silent. It's snowing now, so I will soon find out how well they do in snow. From everything I read, they should do well.

They're not cheap. Best price I found was $1088 delivered to my door from BWT. There was a place in NY that had 'em cheaper but wouldn't ship.

STT Pro's come in 285/70/18. Finally got to use my Pros in some snow/icy conditions. Night & day better in those conditions than my previous Nitto MT Trail Grapplers. Best tire for me so far. Ever. DuraTracs are a good all a round tire for all conditions. Liked mine a lot. The Good Year Kevlars are very pricey. I mostly see them on jeeps/FJs and haven't seen too many good reviews concerning tread wear on full size trucks. WI no doubt gets icy/snow conditions. You definitely want to get some decent tires for your clime and use. Wheels.............FN BFD's

Not to entirely hijack, but how is the road noise with the STT Pros? One thing I'm going to be super picky about when I replace my stock tires is road noise.

I ran Durtracs on my Tacoma and loved them, but man they were loud to me. Not as loud as my Trxus M/Ts were on my other Tacoma, but still not as quiet as I would like.

Maybe I'm getting old, but my 40 mile round trip highway commute requires a nice ride, but I hate the offroad/snow/rain performance of the stock tires.

My STTs are very reasonable as far as road noise for a M/T tire. Tread design is very good in that regard. Also has generous siping which is an improvement over my Nitto Trail Grap M/Ts. The DuraTracs aren't really an M/T design. They are a very good tire. Had them on my Taco and weren't excessively noisy all. Very good on snow/wet roads.

I would not call it a 'generous' siping, haha. But it has more than Nitto Trail Grappler (which basically has none), but a lot less than DuraTrac. I like their price though. This might actually be my next set.

Here are a comparison of their treads.

I see they make a P rated Duratrac in the stock size. Now I might be interested.

What's cool is I've owned all three. Any siping vs virtually none (that is effective) is almost generous in my book for a M/T tire. :bananadance: The DuraTracs perform well on the road vs the Nitto and Cooper which are both M/Ts. The DuraTrac is not an M/T tire per se. If I was driving a long ways to work every day I'd probably be running with the Dura Tracs. I drive 8 miles round trip to work so tread wear is not an issue for me. Most of my mileage is up in the mountains. I'd definitely go with a LT rated tire.

Also, if you look close, the STTs have alternating outer tread cutouts like the DuraTracs which help eliminate road noise which the Nittos don't have.
