aramirez73, for your projects around the house a Hobart Mig set up is perfect for small projects. Here's a 190 amp set up that's plug-n- play. The only requirement on it is you would have to have a 220 hook up, like your washer and dryer are hooked up to. Imop, stay away from your 120v welders you plug into your house current, you are very limited with what you can weld. Duty cycle will tell you a lot about your welder. I work with equipment that's 60% min to 100%. I will explain with a time frame of 10 minutes. So if you have a welder with a duty cycle of 40%, then that means you can weld for 4 minutes constant, then let welder cool down for remaining 6. The higher the duty cycle the longer you can weld. Here is a 190 amp Hobart with everything you need. You probably can get away with it's little brother that's 140-150 amp for $300 or so cheaper. You can weld pretty much anything you need to with a 150 amp welder. Also here's a Victor Torch set up. I swear by Victor products as I have used them since I got into welding and burning.
One more quick note on the welder. The Hobart usually will have a spool of wire with it. It will more than likely be flux-cored wire, which means no gas required. If you decide you want a duel shield for your welding then add another $100 or so for the bottle. Welds are cleaner and look better with dual shield, but more of a preference. Hope this helps and if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask. Salute
