I had to order it directly from samsung as the sale was almost over and Amazon and best buy were out of them at the sale price, so its not here yet. I cant wait to hear how it sounds. Having the rear speakers only needing power was what sealed it for me. I'm going to put one on the kitchen island and one will have to go on a stand, but there's an outlet right next to it. Should be really nice.

I've started to load a bunch of Atmos movies onto my server to be ready :)

I totally understand about the wires. I ran my own surround sound wiring through the walls and attic and mounted my speakers in the appropriate locations. I had one horizontal fire stop to drill through, but I was able to reach it from the attic with an 18" paddle bit. I can't believe how few builders add the surround sound wiring. It is a great selling point if it is installed.

Our house was pre wired for a sub location behind the living room and in ceiling speakers. I wasn't really interested in in-ceiling speakers (just didn't seem like they would sound good), but now that you can get recievers that can do Height speakers, that could be a good option, i would still have to have speaker wires for the sides and rears, but would probably be kick ass.
Unfortunately the living room has the master bedroom right above it so there's no good way to run wires. Maybe in the future they will come out with wireless adapters for wired speakers that works great.

The last time I evaluated wireless speakers was about 14 years ago. At the time, there was a delay in the signal that was detrimental to the surround effect. I guess they have worked those kinks out by now. When I build, I'm still going to run speaker wires for full surround. Just old school I guess.

Would be awesome if you could do a hybrid, wired where you can and wireless where you can't.

I install the crap out of Sonos if I can get them these days and no one ever thinks it is not enough especially if they pony up for the Sub.
It is a decent system for Surround even with no dedicated Center but it is also pretty pricey for sure.

I prewire every house I can and far prefer old school hardwire as you just have options then that you do not get with going wireless really.

Also you can get good sounding in-wall/ceiling speakers if you buy ones that are enclosed and not free air into the installed space.
Enclosed models can be very good as the design is just like every other fully evolved speaker with calculated and know enclosure volume and often the mid and high freq. drivers can also be angled for better coherence of the sound field even if not mounted in an ideal location.

The soundbar should be here on sunday, i'm eagerly awaiting its arrival. It will be nice to not have to deal with all the wires going under the rug.

I really wish there was an easy way to get speaker wires to the rears and the sides. If i was on a raised foundation, i would just go under the house and run some wires for the rears but we are on a slab, and have tile flooring. If i had carpet, i would at least have a glimmer of hope that when its time to replace the carpet, i could run something under the flooring.

With the in-ceiling speakers, do you get a good sound stage from them? I feel like it would be difficult to get a good rear or front L/R with them being in ceiling. If i really wanted to go ham, i'd use the prewired ceiling speaker locations for Height/atmos, install the front L/R in the wall on each side of the tv, just have a stand alone center. I would still have to have wires for the rears and most likely the side speakers. I bet the receiver for that wouldn't be cheap!

They work fine in the wall or ceiling especially if you get the adjustable highs as I said and even better if you get enclosed back speakers. In general a diffuse rear sound field works well and if you want otherwise then a speaker that adjusts to direct sound at you works well for that.

Why do you think they wouldn't?

I also always want the same speaker across the front for the most convincing soundstage and will never do otherwise if possible if you want decent performance. They just really need to sound the same so that as the image moves across the soundstage it all sounds coherent, this is a crucial yet often ignored element to getting max performance for sure.

Now if WAF is an issue and you need to break them up for her thats a different problem, sorry!

Do you have a recommended in ceiling speakers with adjustable highs with enclosed backs? If the soundbar doesn't blow me away it could be moved to the bedroom and go with a different setup, but we are starting to mess with fire (boss approval).

It just seems like having your rear channels be coming down from above vs. from behind at your ear level is why i thought it wouldn't sound as good.

Agreed. I jumped on this one. Mint condition with the aluminum topper clamps, screens intact, and keys. New lift struts for the rear window.
