When I was growing up, ashtrays were everywhere. There were promotional ashtrays on the counter at the parts store. There were stands with glass ashtrays is barber shops. Hell, there were even ashtrays in the arm of airline seats.

This is the first time I have seen an ashtray in a long time.

You should start a cnc thread. Im really interested to see how it works. I've looked at plans for making one out of wood mostly, but seemed like it would be better to have something a little more precise.
    Which size did you get?

Wife wanted to get kayaks again...I picked this up for super cheap. Ive wanted to upgrade to a stand up fishing kayak, she apparently wants a different style, but cant actually figure out what she wants. So now I guess we have a spare and its not even summer yet.

I went with the woodworker that would give me a cutting area of 32.5" X 32.5".

seems like a no brainer for the extra couple hundred. The other one is tiny.
I'm running low on space in the garage, i wonder if i could use a table saw stand and mount the cnc to that, so that it could be tucked away when its not in use.

My Fathers Father had one of those Bean Bag ashtrays on the dash of his car as far back as I can remember and it was ALWAYS overflowing and had ashes and Butts falling down the dashboard whenever I was in the car with him.

    Today would be his Birthday.
    Today is my Birthday too.

Its funny sometimes what we remember?

Let me see if I have the time to do that. I have not had a chance to do anything with it yet. I got it right after Christmas, had to build a table for it, and then put it on the table. As soon as I got done with all of that stuff, I had to travel for work. Once I get home I'll see what I can put together as I am really excited about putting it to use. I have been designing some wood cuttings in Carbide Create when I have the time at night on this trip. Learning the software has been a little challenging, but, I have a much better understanding now that I have had a chance to really focus on the software.

That is cool and brings back some childhood memories. My grandpa had one similar to that, he would dump his ashes on one side and have the butts on the other, they wouldn't be mixed together. He smoked those non filter lucky strikes.

What did you use for the base board?
I'll be excited to see how the first run goes. What did you design?

I am working on a combination of a firefighters Maltese cross and an EMT emblem for a plaque honoring first responders. I am also working on a wedding sign for my youngest son. I am also fooling around with some military retirement gifts. Oh yes, and last but not least, a logo for my stuff. My youngest son and his fiancé did the art work, I have been focusing on getting a good model into the carving software.

Oh yes, about the table top, I initially made a torsion box using some Home Depot ply. After putting the machine together on the plywood is when I found out how much the ply had warped. It was high centering the machine in the middle of a transition from the front of the table to the back. I had to go back and make a new torsion box out of MDF. I really did not expect plywood to warp like it did, even with all of the support structure underneath it.
