My 295/70/18 tires 'only' weigh 61 lbs, but my heavy stock wheels don't help the situation. I wonder how much the 285 foot print may help. Those 285/75s are the sweetspot for size, but I couldn't pass up the deal I got on the 295/70.

I've had my truck for only 2.5 months & current mileage is 1,900 with zero road trips max trip was 50 miles give or take, best fuel economy on regular fuel = 16.4 MPG.
No real mods to screw with the eco,so this is what I'm running currently stock tires/rims,cat back exhaust and k&n drop in's again no road trips as of yet and the engine isn't even close to be broken in.So I didn't buy it for the economy it was purchased to be a trustworthy reliable truck that will preform as a truck as needed if I wanted fuel economy I'll fire up the horse and buggy or by a tampon on wheels/Prius...

The "break in" for MPG is real, which I was fairly surprised with. After a 3k mile road trip, putting me at about 8k total, I've been averaging nearly 2 mpg higher on my normal Monday-Friday commute than previously. Fuel economy wasn't a selling point to begin with, but now that I'm getting better mileage than my '20 Tacoma did, it's a major bonus.

This is normal driving mode, AC ripping (SWFL summer is pretty warm), and not babying the throttle but also not chirping the tires at every red light. Overall very happy with the fuel mileage at it's current state.

I'm right at 3k miles, and am currently around 15-16 mpg. Improved about 1.5 mpg so far (non-highway). I did a 40 mile trip (each way), on the interstate on Sunday. Was in ECO and cruising at 70mph and got 24.9 mpg, so that was good.

I'm just over 3K miles and averaging 20 mpg. Just recently did a 400 mile road trip that included going over (and back) a couple mountain passes. Around town, I drive on Normal mode. On the freeway, once I get up to speed, I shift to ECO.

    16-19 now approx 5k miles, 90% freeway

it has not gotten better from break in or after first oil change

it does get better if you pump up your tires 44+ lolol

also the truck gets absolute shit mileage when warming up, I started noticing this after 1st oil change and my ride home I was getting 20+ easy, other times its like 16-18, well thats cuz I picked up my truck at like 2-3 and then went home at 5 when it was still warm

this makes sense cuz every other time the truck is sitting overnight before work or at work for like 9 hours before I go home

i went offsite for lunch a few times all around 1-2, going home at 5, same thing 20+, so i came to conclusion when truck sits all day and even when outside temps is 100, the truck still takes that 5-10mins of warming up which = shit gas mileage.

It doesnt help that my commute is like 10 miles and is 90% freeway

lastly, after chaning main speedo screen to show instant mpg, you can use this instant mpg reading instead of overall or last tank to see how well your driving like grandma

I was just doing some testing on my daily commute, and found that 60mph is really the breaking point for mpg loss. My daily travel is 25 minutes 1 way, and 16 miles - 11.7 freeway, 4.3 city, or roughly 25/75 city/highway.

For 1 week I drove 70 mph while in eco and using cruise and averaged 19.9mpg
For 1 week I drove 65 mph while in eco and using cruise and averaged 21.8mpg
For 1 week I drove 60 mph while in eco and using cruise and averaged 24.5mpg
Last week I drove 70 mph while in sport and using cruise and averaged 20.4mpg

Of course weather and slight traffic differences will impact this, but I hope a week of driving would average that out.

2022 TRD sport - stock with only addon being running boards. 18k miles, stock tires (ran winter tires for 9k miles)

I have a stock TRD sport as well and my take is drive mode makes little difference in MPG. Eco should be called Sweat Lodge mode because all it apparently does is kill the AC. I drive mostly in Sport mode because the lane assist feels less combative in that mode. I have not had enough time with cruise vs no cruise to see a trend

I hope the break in period is for real.
Been getting 15.8 city and on a 1500 mile trip, mostly highway 17.1.
For the trip I kept all receipts to see how accurate the onboard measure was, spot on at 17.1

While I didn't buy it for the mpg, it was definitely a consideration. My 2016 with over 100k was getting 15 on trips and I was expecting 20 for trips.
Sticker says 17 city and 22 highway. City is only off by 1.2 mpg, that seems reasonable. For highways to be off 5 mpg, well that is 23%.

What really irks me, and the sample size is minuscule, but on the way up I left it in ECO mode and I got better mileage on the way back in NORMAL mode, like a half mpg, but still. Quicker response, better AC, and I get better mileage, why use ECO mode if it's not saving me $$$.

The hope is that it's getting better mileage with more miles and if I had driven back in ECO mode the mileage would have been better.

After the 1500 mile trip I have 3000 miles. All stock, no hybrid, 2023 Limited.

12.1 on a Platinum hybrid. Strictly on back roads commuting to work (5 miles). It's not pretty unless you are mostly on highway lol.

Last full tank I set the trip 1 odometer to 0. Refilled with 1 mile-to-go on the display. Trip odometer was at 465.5 miles. Took me 27.765 gallons to refill. That's 16.77 mpg for that tank of gas. All but about 50 of those miles was urban, start/stop driving. Mostly Eco and Normal, and tried to see if I could do better than the 14-15 mpg I kept seeing on the display.

22.1 mpg over 3000 miles. 2000 of that hwy. 1000 urban like nyc and CT. I see no difference in 87RO vs 89RO.

Very nice man ! I’m gonna try using the higher octane next fill… I’m in Texas so don’t have the luxury to drive with windows down and AC off but gonna experiment with my max speed on the highway and keep it below 70mph … I’ll give an update here

using a drive there vs drive back means nothing. What’s the elevation between two points? What’s the wind on each day, what lbs the ambient temp, humidity, traffic, how many stops, etc etc. everything has an effect.

That being said, I get 19.2 city, and 17.7 highway, which blows my mind. You’d think city would be worse. I do 75 on the highway in a hybrid.

2023 Limited TRDOR. Everything is stock. 5,000 miles.

I average 17.5-18mpg on most tanks. I've never averaged less than 17. I can get 22-23mpg on longer highway trips.

My computer waffles between 16.1 and 16.2 lifetime mpg. It was under 10 for the first month I had it.

I picked the truck up right before we hit negative temps, and almost all my driving has been short stop and goes in town. I'll occasionally have 500-1500 lbs in the bed.

Going to take more than one tank of higher octane fuel for any noticeable changes.

This ia a picture of my average mileage, as measured by the truck on a 4300 mile trip from Fl to NM, with stops at Caprock Canyon, Carlsbad Canyon and many other places. It included city driving, highway driving, interstate driving, idling in the heat and everything in between. In west TX much of it was at speeds greater than 75 mph.
