HAHA, as someone with a mouth full of teeth, I wish the plague on dental companies as well, how is it that they still offer the same measly allowance for the past 2 decades, if not more?! It's not even enough to pay for much other than regular hygiene and an occasional filling... ugh. It will probably never change I suppose, because the insurance companies can afford to line the pockets of politicians, thus we must all have some money in the bank for our teefs, a tooth emergency fund (welcome to your 40s)! Now that I am in my 40s I feel like my teeth are plotting my financial demise, one by one, maybe payback for my sweet tooth!?!

Anyway thank you for taking care of our veterans for part of your career and for keeping our teeth in our heads!

LOL, that's funny, yes I did! I was a pretty loyal customer there for many years, as I used to stupidly trade my vehicles in like every year, so that might be why they negotiated. It was legit to the point that I would call on the phone, negotiate with the manager, get a satisfactory price and trade allowance and then go to the dealership, they knew I wouldn't even bother coming in if they didn't do that. The MSRP was like 47K or just under, and I paid 41K and some change and got them to pay for the line X. It was in 2020 during the summer, the truck was new and had been on their lot since maybe March or February of 2020 from what I could assume from the paperwork and title, it was during the beginnings of COVID and I think most people were worried about job loss so they weren't buying cars, total opposite of now! I am glad I snatched it up, it's def my last truck, I paid it off and am hoping to never have to buy another one!

Did your dad try to haggle maybe when it first arrived in the winter? When did he try to buy it?

On another note, how's that snowmobile working for you this winter? :p at least we have snow right now, but unless you live way up in Northern NH I feel like we rarely have enough snow for snow mobiles.. I live on the trail and feel like its a rarity that the trail has adequate snow cover for the snow mobiles for more than a handful of days in the winter. You should get one of these, good for year 'round riding if you don't mind the cold. I just bought this one in Concord NH and got them to take 700 off, even though it's a unicorn with the supply shortages!

So it’s the same truck, that’s wild. He had them to 40k and offered 39, this was over the course of two visits. I thought he had it in the bag but they wouldn’t budge. I’ve bought three tundras and a Camry there and went with him to try and use that to his advantage. He ended up buying a used 19 crewmax in Salem but still says “I thought I had that blue one in the bag!”

I ride locally when I can but go up to Pittsburg and Rangeley. I’ve had atv’s in the past but for me they don’t compare. I have a Harley and old car I race at the drag strip so I have summer pretty covered.

Voodoo is still the best color Toyota has offered in recent years.

Agree that VD is the best color, I get a lot of compliments on it when I am out and about! Damnit, I could have got another 1K off LOL! You gotta know when they are at the cap, for 1K if I was your dad and it was the truck I wanted I would have bought it, I am glad he didn't though. :D... I guess your dad is stubborn?! I went to TON when I needed a commuter vehicle a few months ago, and they were going to charge me over MSRP despite me using them repeatedly for other vehicles, so I will no longer be a customer there, and they also tried to trick me into doing some expensive unessessary throttle bottle cleaning last service, which I thankfully declined. Ended up going to Grappone in Bow for the new CC, MUCH better dealership with no market adjustment BS, bought a new Honda CRV, and I will be going to their dealerships for service as well! Highly recommend them if you need a Honda or Toyota in the future.

    Be safe and happy riding!

I thought the same thing, like I said I’ve bought four vehicles there and I will walk with ease. I’m always there buying a mass produced new vehicle that I can get anywhere, not a 70 LS6 Chevelle. He would have paid 40 but my mom set 39 as the number and she she was sitting right next to him so 40 wouldn’t fly.

I went back there with a coworker who wanted a 23 Trd pro tundra, they told him 10k over sticker. Yeah no way. Ordered it from McGee in Claremont (middle of freakin nowhere) for msrp and it’s due in next week at msrp. My mom also bought a 22 4Runner TRD Off Road from them at msrp. I’m also all done with Nashua. Their only saving grace is location and that they usually have what you want sitting there. My fiancé works in Concord and we live close by so I’ll give grappone a shot next time.

Ok, so your dad is not stubborn, it's that your mom wears the pants in the house, as it should be , and she sounds like a cool mom driving a 4runner ! Tell your mom thanks, I am enjoying my blue truck!

Haha, I am familiar with Claremont, lots of great ATV trails up there, and it is in fact in the middle of nowhere. 89 is super fun in winter too if its snowing , I used to work on an ambulance up there, so I drove that trek many times!

Hope your co worker has a trouble free delivery on his new TRD PRO, did he get the octane? LOVE that color! DEF give Grappone a try, you won't want to go back to nashua, I drive the 45 minutes to get there, which honestly is the same distance to TON anyway, but it's worth it!

PS: What is a "motor officer".

nah he got MGM with a black interior. I would have gone for solar octane but 71k for a truck is not for me. I’m in Auburn so it isn’t all that far for me to go to Concord and I def won’t go to Ira.

I worked in the trades all my life. Got a job fixing stuff at a school 20 yrs ago. Pay isn't great, but amazing health benefits and a lot of paid time off. Not as much as the teachers, but it's a lot to me. I don't even use 1/3 of my vaca.
I'm considering retiring early and doing something on the side for extra cash. No, not male prostitution although I'd probably be a hit at the retirement homes. Maybe build a few custom guitars p/yr, maybe some furniture.
Unless they wanna pay me to stick around for a while and just tell people what to do from a desk. But this workin shit is getting old. It also kinda ruined my dream of being a hand model.

I just switched from full time private EMS to a full time, really sweet nursing job and per-diem EMS for a municipality, and mostly on a fly car (good bye private EMS!). my insurance went from costing 85.00 a week with a 2K deductible to 35.00 a week with a 750.00 deductible, pay went up another 20.00 an hour, and I went from having to work 48 hours a week, 2 24 hour shifts, to working 32 hours a weeks days only... not to mention the free gym membership and not having to lift obese people down stairs or on manual stretcher (honestly the FDs were really good about helping a lot, but still).

    Congrats!

And here I am working for a multi-billion dollar, record-profit bragging assed natural gas pipeline company and paying over $500/m for my husband and I for a ‘good’ plan from BCBS where we still have to shell over $3k per year for it to begin to have any meaningful impact. Love it.

Yikes Crystal, that sucks. Are you guys non-union??

The thing with nursing and hospitals is that hospitals can partially self insure, so if I use the hospital system I work at for healthcare they are able to provide much lower cost insurance and medical care... unfortunately other industries don't have that option, but your insurance sounds horrible! I hope they improve things for you guys!

Non union, but its across the board even for the union techs out West from what we hear. On the bright side one day we’ll keel over and wont need insurance anymore so theres that.

Most every company self-insures at least partially. Because I am in a partnership, I get to pay for my own - full freight - and it is super expensive. $2k/mth for myself plus one.

Umm, that's not quite what I meant.... I meant that the hospital is basically subsidizing the cost of the healthcare provided to employees at their own hospital. In other words, if I go get a cat scan at the hospital I work at, they will just eat all or part of the cost in order to save money on insurance costs for their employees, so instead of the hospital having to pay 500 a month for each employee to have healthcare coverage, they only pay 250 a month since they are offering services at a discounted rate to the insurance company, or in some cases, at no cost. Thus the rate I pay for insurance and the portion that the hospital pays are both lower, when compared to someone who works elsewhere. If you go to get that same cat scan your insurance company is going to pay more for it, thus your healthcare insurance costs are likely to be higher. That's what I mean by a hospital self insuring. I think you are referring to the fact that employers usually pay a portion of insurance costs, usually 80% and the employee pays the rest, usually 20%, that is not self insuring, because they are paying a premium to an insurance carrier or broker.
