I work as a CNC Progammer/Machinst at a true mom n pop machine shop. I've worked in three different shops in the last sixteen years and this one's my favorite. Been there over six years now.

Ambulance chaser lawyers have always been hated. LEO occupation isn't hated in my house and I'd bet most folks want LEO's around

 

Nobody knows anything. We ordered enough protection gear to cover all the drivers is / when school starts. I just don’t see how the social distancing will work on a school bus. If they put 9 students in a 84 passenger bus, who is going to pay that bill.

 

Not in NYC, and now they are killing themselves. Couldn't happen to a better group of people. See what happens when you defund the police and disband special units. Times like this I'm glad I'm retired.

Yeah, NYC isn't a LEO friendly place but there are a lot places left in this country that appreciates law and order enforcement. A lot....

 

Now the people who fought for disbanding the Street Crime Unit want it back. Guess they need the police now.

 

Anarchy is usually pretty cool until it hits your neighborhood......heh...heh...then 911.....busy signal.........

OC used to be pretty cool back in the 60's when I lived there as a kid in Tustin when my dad was stationed at MCAS El Toro. There were even lots of orange groves everywhere............yeah, I'm old

 

I loooooove it. Been around here for a couple decades. I work a county or two over, not as much of a fan.

My buddy was stationed there with the reserves for a minute. It’s changed ALOT from then. All track homes and apartment complexes now, kind of disheartening. I would have loved to see it back in the day.

I remember when Irvine was still Irvine Ranch and getting up to Saddleback was a real bitch.

 

Count me as old too but not as old as you. LOL. I was there back in the late 80's as a teenager, visiting. I remember my first time in OC and seeing all those groves. The air was fantastic. But now..well you know.

 

Mom and pop s got it going on! I worked for a shop like that for a few years. Never saw mom though. The place I work now doesn t allow pictures to be taken.
@FlyingWolfe You wasn t far off when you said washers. Starting Thur I ll run a 12 router table retrofitted into a vertical mill machining nuts of all things. These are no ordinary nuts though. It s the nut/fastener that holds on prop blade for guidence system for Coast Guard tug or some aquadic craft. Not sure which one.

Doesn’t surprise me. We used to have to special order certain things from local Fab shops because our equipment was so old that they didnt make parts anymore.. the Forward was supposed to be decommed 15 years before I was ever stationed on it.. hence the engineer thing and awake 30+ hours. Constantly fixing shit in the engine room. And it always broke at 2am
