Modesto Toyota in California has a tiny two office person internet area. Interestingly enough, they have 8-10 sales guys all grouped together chatting and playing on their phones etc. I watch them while waiting for oil changes. I thought that sales approach died years ago...

Yeah, that does not sound like a productive approach. I have 9 guys who respond to inquiries and set appointments for themselves. Online car shopping isn’t going away anytime soon.

How do you like executive protection? I’ve always had an interest in that.

It seems like there’s a lot of dealers reluctant to get with the times. I’ve emailed a handful of dealers over the weekend and they don’t give me much for info and just keep asking when I can come in. At the point I stop replying to them.

I love it. I am on a full time team for one client so that can get kind of boring because it is the same routine. But on my days off from that team I will work other details that come up for one or two days when people come into town. Those are fun because its always different and keeps your skills sharp.

A buddy from Ranger Regiment was looking for help on a detail he was running. Did that, then took some courses to help with the transition from military tactics to working around civilian clients. There is a lot of ex-military in the field. lt's kind of a natural transition for our skill set.

Brought in my Weber grill timer to work. We have a Helmut Klein Timometer 4500. We use it to calibrate stop watches and timers. Jewelers (horologists) use them to verify time accuracy of quartz watches. $2500. Kind of cool. Our 4500 24 hour uncertainty is +/- 0.05 sec per day. My Weber is +.84 sec offset per 24 hours. Fun times.....

Whe working in town this week I got to do some service calls. Not the worst but it can be annoying.
Had a customer complaining that they cant see out of a camera at their front doors. The camera is there so the senior residents can see who it is prior to letting them in.
I guess they had some issue where police had to break through the window to gain access. So whatd they do with the window? Put plywood up. Why is the camera not working? It sees through the window......
Love it when I have to explain situations like this to customers.
"So you have a piece of plywood right in front of the camera"
    - "Ok?"
    "Where its trying to look"
    - "What?"
" That camera right there is facing through that window"
    - "Ok?"
"The window that is now a piece of plywood"
    - "What!?"
    "Yeah"
    - "Well dont I feel like an idiot"
    "I would too hahaha"
    - "you can go now"

These are charcoal on archival paper but I also do oil on canvas. Here is a pic of my old studio when I was going to art school and one of my paintings.
