What year DC to buy? 2004 - 2006

I agree with a few others that the year is much less important than good maintenance records and out of the rust belt region. But if all the same I vote for '05 - '06 in Phantom Gray

 

I have the 2004 crew cab short bed 4.7 iforce Love it. I had to change the serpentine belt , i had to change something to deal with a flap that opens and closes the flow of transmission fluid during towing Now i have to change the rear end seals My truck is paid off and i see it this way. Id rather pay a little here and there than a mortgage payment to my truck. I would of liked to have gotten the platinum edition, sunroof , leather seats,,ect... I don’t have the wood grain thankfully. I do have the sr5 Love the full back window that goes down. 4x4 low has torque you would not believe.
It rides better than a cadilac and a bmw combined. Just a little higher
First thing i did when i got in my truck was , i got in the back seat to see how it felt. I loved it back there. High up, see the whole windshield. You can find a 2004 Toyota Tundra Crew cab with less than 80,000 miles for as little as 10-14,000 dollars. Id buy the same vehicle if something happened to mine
Id stay with the 2004. Ps. 2022 the tundra b6 twin turbo. I can’t wait. Ill live in a trailer just to own that new truck coming out Good luck

 

Yougot me wondering so I looked in my area. I see 5 from owners and 4 of them are $13,900.00. The other is $12,000.00
This one is interesting though. It has 12,900 miles. I bet he forgot a zero.

 

Maybe? I do see many misnomers dreggsliss. Access Cabs labeled Crew Cab. FWD instead of 4WD. ‘Works as it should’ quotes. Recent oil changes and new tires/brakes etc. Thats probably when they’ve found out the front end needs total rebuild and start to sell it to you. Our trucks need mucho TLC at this age to snap them back into shape. Beauty is that they can come back from typical disrepair/neglect and become ‘like’ new again.

The 04 is split year 03-04 is until 8/1/04 after 8/1/04 is part of 05-06 it's really confusing makes finding parts and information harder and misleading. I think either they ran out of parts and instead of trying to get another 4 months worth of parts started using their 05 vvti engine parts. I'm guessing it sold better than expected , completely different engine and transmission. If a part says fits 04 that info is useless unless it says 00-04 or 04-06 to make it worse I don't think 03 had a double cab

 

So I believe early 04 tundra double cab is great, not sure but if wanting 1st gen vvti I would choose 06, if you don't want vvti 03- early 04 personal opinion

 

My '05 has been a great truck.

Boy how times have changed. If i could find an 80,000 mile Double Cab 1Gt for $10,000-$14,000 bucks i would be as giddy as a high schooler who just got an all A average.
