What would you prefer: 6-seat capacity or 38-gallon fuel tank?

I'd really like to have both 6-seat capacity (bench seats) as well as the larger 38-gallon fuel tank, but seems you can't have both.

Assuming you had to choose one (ignoring aftermarket tanks, which have their own downsides), which would you choose?

I chose the 6 seating capacity. You can stop for gas, but you can't put a person in the center console

Get the bench. You can do the tank later, or not! I love the bench because my queen or my puppy can get close to me..

I like the fact that I can put the 6th person in my truck if I need to.

Bigger fuel tank. I owned a truck with a bench seat. I used it once for about 5min and it was too cramped. I have never needed to haul more than 3 passengers.

When the seat was not in use, the flip down console was impractical, poorly designed and uncomfortable as an armrest. The truck was a Ford but still..

I'll never buy a vehicle without a full center console and bucket seats.

Bigger gas tank. My Tundra already has more seats then I need but the 21gal tank sucks balls.

I bet you with the 21gal tank, you will be stopping for gas a hell of a lot more often then you will be wanting to bring along a 6th person

Any negatives about the transferflow that you experienced? Did you experience the "lean" that some people have reported after installing the transferflow??

Honestly, both. That's why I haven't bought a new one. I have a 2013 crewmax with the console. I would buy a new one if I could get both on the truck.

Kind of curious that most people prefer the bench seating, but it seems like the SR5 (with bigger fuel tank) is much more prevalent.

I have, it's what I drive on a daily basis.

I find the Tundra fold down seat very comfortable as an arm rest. Also, I think it has more practical storage then a simple giant box

Are you sure you can't have both? I was told repeatedly and by multiple dealerships I could not have tow mirrors and dual zone AC. It took me sitting at the computer with dealership personnel to get it done. I ended up with a Limited that has BSM and the package it comes in deleted. Saved me a little over $2K and BSM is not really comparable with my bumpers anyway.

I don’t know, I like the bucket seats...

I’ve never seen a tundra with a bench personally...

Maybe do like my grandmas olds and have the giant center console in the back of the middle-front seat. It folds up to be a back rest or down to be an arm rest/center console.
And take a queue from ram and beable to pull the cushion up and have additional storage under the seat.

I’d still take the tank over the bench, no question.

The back of my center seat has storage and the cushion flips up with additional storage. I find it more practical then the center console's storage

Nice! Toyota was ahead of me on that one!! I’ve never seen one with a bench... but would still be nice to have bucket seats with the optional center seat for little butts :)

Depends on the circumstances. Long hauls or tows, 5 passengers or less? Bigger tank. City driving the bench is more practical if you need the extra seat.

Seating. I hate center consoles. They always invade my space too much. I am a tall guy and like to be able to lean my knee out. The center console makes me feel like I am in a car. Plus....I have used the 6 seating capacity fairly often as well.

Buckets and bigger tank. If more people need to go somewhere they can ride in the bed or find other transportation. If I wanted to move a lot of people I’d drive a passenger van.

The extra seat because I can always add a larger tank.

I would choose the bench seat over the center console but I wouldn’t choose it over the larger gas tank. The center seat really doesn’t have enough legroom for an adult. Although I have used the 6th seat a few times to haul my daughters’ friends, but that doesn’t make up for the sucky small gas tank. I think what I like most about the bench seat is when I’m wheeling and get stuck and something is blocking the driver’s door, I can slide out the passenger side.
