Had a boss once ask me to help move some furniture. Being the boss I said yes. However, he drove and made me sit in the bed to hold his furniture! SOB! Six months later I was gone and found a better job. Now only family can ask, and they know better!

You shouldn't be as surprised... I'm sure you've seen your fair share of unsupported loads in the south.

Dude, I was raised on the notion there are five things a man can't have enough of....steak, beer, women, tools and rope.

As it stands in my truck's under seat storage right now, I have 8 ratchet straps, two spools of rope (135 lb and 250 lb), recovery strap, and probably about 5 spools of unused paracord plus two that have been used. Not to mention the wide range of assorted bungee cords and a bed net LOL won't even get started on my tools/knives/guns I keep in there.

I may be southern, but I come prepared!!

Sure sure. Whatever you say boss LOL

Actually, you'd be surprised how many country folk are more edjumacated than city folk on ropes and all that.
I've seen more people holding loads in the back of a truck (and in a trailer o_O) not to mention a hybrid rolling down the street with some full length baseboards on the roof with some podunk holding them down in the city than I have in the country.

City folk be cray cray!! LOL

That's for damn sure. Country folks don't always tie down the prettiest, but that shit is always secure. City folks will have a mattress on top of a Honda Civic with one bungee cord over the top with 4 arms holding onto the mattress. :p

All I know is last time I was in GA. I saw some folks with a couch in the bed of their trucks with no ropes, but they used cinderblocks to weight it down. hahahaha Then again... that was Moultrie GA.

That's been observed by me on more than one occasion LOL

In the country, it ropes don't work, duct tape will. If duct tape don't work, super glue will. Now if super glue don't work...you're shit outta luck! LOL

Not saying some country folk wouldn't know their head from their ass on occasion, but I see more of that head-assery in the city than I have in podunk towns!

We had ropes, but he "felt better" if I was back there, too. I was young and new to the company. Lesson learned.

Like I said, very young and new to the company. Couldn't chance losing the job. Things we do to fit in and try to make points with the boss. Fortunately, the move was over in 30 minutes and no harm done to my truck. Funny how I still remember it many years later.

I tell them I have a 5x10 trailer, if you need it take it, but I will side with Law on family and close friends. It still sucks though , we bounced around growing up and I hated moving.

I must be weird. I don't mind helping folks move stuff.

But then again most folks that ask me are reasonable and aren't expecting me to pack up their whole house and move them. I'm not taking loads of cardboard boxes. Y'all can do that yourself. Just like I don't ask them to move my cardboard boxes.
